Disney Magic 12-9-2015

Just wondering does anyone know the odds of getting a cabana since they are all booked already? I read to check closer to cruise time that some will let them go? Anyone know how accurate that is? Do they hold some to book once on the ship?

If you've been waiting for the Christmas themed stateroom gifts to appear on Disney's website they're avail. now.

In addition with our new date (you all know it was changed months ago - that's the change I'm talking about - don't fret) for Key West I thought I'd check - we'll be there with Majesty of the Seas and as they already had Disney's preferred pier booked, we'll be docking at the Navy's Outer Mole Pier instead.

Hello, I'm Lynda, I'm not a fish extender participant, but I am a Platinum Cruiser and as such, I snagged a Cabana on the Family Beach. I'm traveling with a friend going on her first cruise. Looking to find 4 people to share our Cabana, both the space and the cost. With 4 other people sharing, the cost would be just under $100 each.

Sad that we're docking at the Navy Pier in Key West. I've only docked at Mallory Square, anyone know the transportation options from the Navy Pier?

My hubby and I were on a Norweigien Cruise last year and we docked at the navy pier. There was a little tram that went from the ship to one of the gift shops in Key West. When you wanted to go back to the ship you just went back to that gift shop. Trams ran about every 20 minutes. In order to get back on the Navy base, everyone had to have a KTTWC and a picture ID.

Being a new to cruising I have a few questions about preparing. This is the first trip my daughter and I are taking by ourselves. Usually we travel with my mom or travel to visit my sister, so I'm a little nervous about there being no one else to rely on if needed.
Any questions you can answer, tips and advice is much appreciated!

What is the best way to carry around the KEY TO THE WORLD? Do we get lanyards onboard or do we have to purchase separately (are they found easily is the gift shops)? I have a small cross body, but was thinking about when I don't want to carry a purse with me.

What must have items should I bring with us when leaving the ship? We are planning on getting off at all stops, but only for an hour or two on Nassau.

Is there anyway to message with my daughter onboard besides using the Wave phones? I saw it mentioned somewhere that by using the Disney app they were able to message back and forth - is this true? From what I hear about the cost of replacing a wave phone, it would be cheaper to replace my daughter's if lost.

About how much extra cash do you recommend bringing with? I have some set aside for Nassau, plan to use my CC/Debit card for Key West and everything Disney is taken care of. Just curious if there is anything else I will need it for?

For disembarking:
What is the best/fastest way to get from the port to the airport?
Our flight got bumped up from 12:45ish to 11:00AM so I'm nervous about getting there on time. Should I still be okay?
What do you recommend for a quick and easy breakfast that will allow us to get off the ship ASAP (we are not concierge)?

Any must have stateroom gifts? I was looking at the stockings and frosty fun treats. Any idea if the treats taste delicious, good or eh? Quality of the stocking/other similar items they may have offered in the past? *Already purchased a picture package.

Again, any tips an advice you all can provide will be much appreciated!
TIA :)

Lanyards are available in the gift shops, but they won't open till after we sail. I bought some cute disney ribbon at JoAnn Fabrics and the clips and made my own lanyards. At any office store, you can get the pouches for it.

I heard there is no messaging with the app. The only way to message on your phone is to pay the really high extra cost. We took my nieces (age 11 and 13 at the time) on a Disney cruise. They enjoyed the kids clubs. To communicate with each other, I brought along a small magnetic white board for the outside of our door. If either of us were going somewhere else, we left a note on the board. It made tracking each other down really easy.

You need picture ID and kttwc every time you get on and off the ship. Everything else is optional.

Extra money is helpful for room service tips on the ship.

Best quickie breakfast for the last day is Cabanas. Being a buffet it is quick, easy and always delish. We had a flight for 10:15 AM one year. As long as you can get off the ship by 7-7:30, you will have enough time to clear customs and get to the airport.

Not sure about stateroom gifts.

Still no room number yet getting a little sad and impatient :sad2:
Oh boo! They need to hurry along with that for you.

I heard there is no messaging with the app.
They updated the app and it now allows texting. If you google you will find the article from Disney about the update. I've read good things about it.

I'm afraid I have to ask as I don't want to offend; is baby Sawyer a boy or a girl?

If you weren't able to watch the live stream of a scene from Tangled yesterday, DCL has uploaded it to youtube. Here's the link

I was unsure about a few names. I hope I guess right!

Hi guys, new here and new to disney cruising so just had a question to ask to those who have been before. What is the shopping like on board? Is there many disney stuff to buy?
Just asking because we will be in Disney World for 4 nights prior to the cruise and I am trying to decide where to spend my money.
Thanks in advance

Honestly, with this not being our first time cruising, but our return to Disney World (we are doing the parks after the cruise!), with the limited amount of shopping there is on a cruise in general compared to the chances you'll have to shop at the parks, I would do most of your shopping at the parks. Either in the park, or Downtown Disney. I can't say because this is our first Disney cruise, but I'm assuming that there will be some cruise themed Disney stuff to purchase, so you may want to get something like that? But I would say Disney shopping in general, you'll have way more opportunity at the parks for sure. They are all the same company so I would assume that prices are going to be high anywhere you go (although I would assume the shopping on the ship would be more expensive?)

There is lots of Disney stuff to buy on the ship but with limited amounts. For instance, anything in clothing bigger than an XL will not be found. Much better opportunities at the parks. Prices are about the same as the parks. I haven't been on the Magic yet but I have cruised twice on the Dream. The Dream has 3 shops. One is mostly jewelry, one is booze and trinkets and one is mostly Disney stuff. Hope this helps. We are getting closer :eeyore:
