Had a great trip on the Disney Magic this past week. 5 of us traveled. All adults, no children. We had a great time. We were in room 5144 outside verandah room, very nice. The only thing I didn't like was the metal verandah. If you were sitting down, you couldn't see over the verandah, it was above your head. You had to stand up to see anything. Spent most of the time on deck 9 or deck 4 anyway, so really not a problem.

We had really good weather the whole week. Of course Key West was warm, we just went shopping. We spent about 3 hours walking around town. Key West is just ok. I have been there before on previous cruises.

Monday was at Sea day. Those are always good. We spend most of the time up on deck 9. The pool water was quite warm and we spend a lot of time in and around the pool.

Tuesday was Costa Maya. I was there once before on the Mystery Cruise March of 03. Still about the same. I heard many people complaining that they didn't like this stop. Not enough to do. I realize we went there because we couldn't get into Grand Cayman, but not a favorite place of mine. They have no post office, no bank, and no phone service. The stores did not take credit cards, at least the ones we went into. Maybe some of the bigger jewelry stores do. We spent about an hour there and went back to the ship. Like I said, there was much grumbling from the passengers and some were loudly complaining to guest services about the port. I understand why they went there, but many people were complaining about the lack of things to do on the ship. Most people didn't stay off the ship long and there was nothing to do on the ship in the way of planned activities. Most people wanted to have an extra day at Castaway Cay instead of Costa Maya.

Wednesday was Cozumel. We had good weather again. Seas were calm and the day was warm but not unbearable. We went into town for quite a while shopping and looking around. We didn't do any excursions.

Thursday was an At Sea day. We went to see the video of the Disney Magic Drydock Makeover. That was very interesting. It was amazing all that they did in the short amount of time. Of course they changed major areas like, Cove Cafe, Diversions, and the Stack, plus many other minor things. After the video the Captain and the Chief Engineer were there for a question/answer time. It was very informative. No plans for a third ship yet says the Captain. No contract has been awarded to a ship yard.

Friday was Castaway Cay, our favorite place. We went to the adult beach and it was wonderful. A little cool in the morning, but by afternoon the water was wonderful. We really enjoyed our day there. We didn't go back on the ship until they were making us.

Some of the things we really liked:

Castaway Cay
Drink station on deck 9 (now includes all kinds of soda)
Our Servers, Leeroy from Jamaica and Beckie from Canada
(Beckie is usually a server but she just came back from vacation and there was no spot for her). She was wonderful
Comedians Michael Harrison and Gary DeLeana,
Juggler, DeMuzio (I think that was his name)
Comfy chairs on deck 4
Pirate night in the dining room
Location of our room, we really liked deck 5
Quiet Cove Pool
Disney Dreams
Golden Mickey's
Breakfast at Topsiders or Parrot Cary

Some of the things that were just ok

Our cabin attendant. She didn't have much personality and forgot our navigators on two nights. We had to call and get some delivered. She forgot our ice half the time.

The food in the dining rooms. Some nights the food was fantastic, other times, not so great. Lumierers at Lunch wasn't very good at all. We found the food to be either really good or really not. My steak on two nights, ordered medium, came out very well done. OF course they will change it for you, but you feel bad having to ask.

Things we didn't like:

Costa Maya

Mattress on the bed was lumpy and it made you go downhill.

Lack of entertainment in the Cabarets. They used to have something every night, not as many shows as when we sailed before.

Tropical Deck Party much better than the now Pirate Deck Party. Missed the Disney Dancers and the House Band playing.

Maybe I will think of some more things for these categories later, but that's all I can think of right now.

All in All it was a great trip and this was Disney Cruise number 7. Any day on a Disney Cruise is better than any day at work.

We were also on this cruise. Have to agree about Costa Maya. One of the persons who took part in our pre-cruise thread arranged a private guide at Chachoben ruins. THAT was great. We had a guide, Ivan, who met us at the ruins. We had about 15 people crammed into a van, and the driver wanted to rush, but we, at least, could have spent more time there. The tours seemed to blow in and out pretty fast, but Ivan spent much more time, telling us about his family's prior ownership of the ruins. Well worth a visit to this place, especially if you book him as guide. After that we returned and had lunch on the ship, then went to the pool area. We looked in the tide pools, the kids enjoyed the salt water pool and we looked in the shops. But other than the ruins, this place does not have much going for it. Just too repetitive of similar things so much better in Cozumel and Castaway Cay. I'll do a trip report but we have to recover from two days post at WDW and a tortuous 1 AM arrival back home, thanks to lousy weather in Texas and American Airline's inability to deal with it.

did you go to any of the 60s, 70s, or 80s nights???

We went to the 70's night. The John Travolta/Gloria Gaynor show was entertaining as usual. The house band, SeaBreeze was quite good. The Disney Cruise Staff are always a fun group. Karen and Que were especially memorable.

really enjoyed reading your report
any pics to share?:p

thanks for posting:wave:
