We are having a towncar pick us up but may son and daughter want to put their tags on their bags. Can they do this or will it automatically go to magic express ????

What "tags" do they want to put on their bags?

Magic Express will only pick up the bags if they have the yellow magic express stickers on them.

Technically, you must ride DME if you want your bags transferred, but there seems to be lots of discussion on this issue.

Here is Disney's policy as per their website.

What is Disney's Magical Express Service?

Complimentary motor coach transportation and luggage transfer services from Orlando International Airport and select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, regardless of the airline you fly.

Travel time is approximately 45 to 75 minutes. Motor coaches may make multiple stops before arriving at your Disney Resort hotel.

Luggage delivery service is available for flights arriving between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily. For airport arrivals after 10:00 p.m., Guests must collect their luggage at Baggage Claim and transport it with them on the motor coach.

Reserve the service when you make your Disney Resort reservation prior to arrival at Orlando International Airport.

Reservations: (407) WDW-MAGIC or (407) 939-6244. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.

(Please note: The service does not provide luggage-only transfer.)

Those sound like standard luggage tags - there's a card in there you can remove and on which you can write identifying information? Maybe 3.5" x 1.5", plus the loop strap?

Yeah, go ahead. Tip: do NOT put your home address on any tag visible to the general public. A cellphone number should be sufficient... well, and your name, of course.

Thanks for the advice - now I have another question we are leaving in 25 days , should we have been sent the yellow tags you're talking about?

DME is NOT an automatic service. It must be reserved in advance. You can not just arrive at the airport and expect to ride the bus, or to have your bags delivered.
It must be reserved before you go. It takes a bit to get the packet sent out. But, here's the thing. There is no way I would pay for a towncar service but tag my bags and allow Disney to transport them. Why? Because if I'm paying $100+ to get to WDW, I do not want to wait up to 4 or so hours to get my bags. I want my bags with me.
Yes, I tag my bags and allow DME to move them for me. Why?? I'm not paying for the service...not handling the bags is one of the reasons I use DME rather than pay for a car service. But once money is out of my pocket, I don't want to have to wait for those bags. I am not willing to be inconvenienced if I'm paying, out of pocket. I will be inconvenienced if I'm not paying.
