Disney Legend, Karen Dotrice, recently was harrassed by Disney employees at the opening gates. She arrived there early Saturday morning and when she did not have the proper tickets to enter the park, she was sent to guest relations. There, the representive said she needed to speak to certain individuals, but unfortunately, all of them were gone for the weekend. When she asked to speak to the managers of the park, they refused her request. Mrs. Dotrice was very polite and purchased the tickets for the park. As a person who loves Disney and it's history, I was greatly offended how a Legend like her was treated. It seems Disney World has fallen to a high degree of disorganization. For those unfamiliar with Karen Dotrice, she was the little girl in Mary Poppins that played Jane Banks.

I think the OP needs to correct a misleading title to their post. As I read the body of the post, I can't see anywhere that that a hand was laid on this person. I also don't see anywhere that she was not treated politely.

What is your source for this information?

She did One Disney movie 40 years ago. I don't think I would call her a Disney Legend... If this was Julie Andrews I might consider her a "Disney Legend". Even if Celebrities are just people too they should be held to a higher regard. She didn't have proper tickets. So they sent her to someone else. Then she obviously said "I was in Mary Poppins get me the manager" I would have done the same thing if I had been working there.

EDIT: Oh also she was in two episodes of "Disneyland" in 78

What was rude was they refused to get a manager for her. I forgot to mention it, but they did talk rudely to her.

2Xited

First of all she is a Disney Legend. She received the Legend's award a few back. I guess you are not too educated in that area. She did more movies for Disney than Mary Poppins. I Mentioned that movie because it was the most popular of all the films. She has also done countless work around the world representing the Disney company. She did not say "I was in Poppins and give me a ticket". I never said she said that. She was given wrong information from the main headquarters at Disney. They made out that WHATEVER they gave her(that usually works in Disneyland) would work in Florida. She was very polite and as I said, the employees were very rude to her.

And it wouldn't be the first time someone at WDW denied something to someone who was eligible for what they were trying to do. With a CM in the family, I have had numerous opportunities to see the "refusals," followed up with, "if I ask for a manager, I will get in trouble," followed up with the manager coming and, yes, the CM getting in trouble when the manager would point to the spot in the manual which showed that the refusal was wrong in the first place.

So by my count that puts Ms. Dotrice in 3 Disney movies and in two guest stars in Disney Television.

I realize after research online that she was a family friend of Walt Disney but I HIGHLY doubt a normal 9 buck an hour cast member working the ticket counter at the Magic Kingdom has ANY clue who Ms. Dotrice is.

. She did not say "I was in Poppins and give me a ticket". I never said she said that. .

Nor did I say you said that.

I said "I was in Mary Poppins get me the manager", implying that she was trying to use her "celebrity" status to climb the food chain to find someone who might recognize her.

She was given wrong information from the main headquarters at Disney. They made out that WHATEVER they gave her(that usually works in Disneyland) would work in Florida.

If this is the case then you should have put this info in the original post

She was very polite and as I said, the employees were very rude to her.

You were there?? If you weren't how do you know she was polite and others were rude?

Also I know you can't change the thread title but I think you should acknowledge OKW Lover's post

The activities you've described may constitute ignorance and poor customer service, but hardly constitute being "roughed up" or "harassed." Perhaps if you provided more details and disclosed your source for the information you would get a better response.

This seems like the biggest problem here........ A CM who makes occasional mistakes should not get in trouble for asking a manager to clarify something, *especially* if the guest is the one requesting the managers's presence. Now, a CM who routinely messes up should be looked at, but that should happen in any business. Making an employee scared to ask a question of a manager creates a customer service problem.
