We are major Disney World vets, but have NEVER been do Disney Land. We are thinking about planning a trip and looking into the hotels. In Disney World they have value, moderate, deluxe... so are the three Disney Land hotels categorized in the same way? They all look pretty great...

Disneyland (small correction: one word, not two) has no categories. There are three hotels. The Paradise Pier is roughly the equivalent of a moderate; Disneyland Hotel is in-between; Grand Californian is roughly the equivalent of a deluxe.

I'd say all three hotels have the qualifications of a WDW deluxe hotel:
-2 Queens/1 king decent sized rooms (suites also available)
-Onsite restaurants (including character meals)
-Extremely well themed pools
-Concierge possibility and room service

However, none of them have the vast, expansive "resort" grounds. DLH is decently sized, but the WDW are much more spread out. PPH is basically just a giant building with the pool on the roof and the restaurants at the bottom.

There are also off property hotels to consider varying in price and quality. Unlike WDW, there are many great options close (some closer) to the parks than the Disney hotels. So depending on your budget you might check out some threads on this topic. THere are a couple of advantages to staying on-property, but you pay a premium for them. Here is a link to a map I find useful
