O.K. So what we are left with is:

Disney WILL NOT honor the "glitch" rate for your entire trip.
However, Disney WILL honor the first night at the "glitch" rate.
You can book your remaining nights at the regular Florida resident rate under the above terms or cancel it.

This is the information that most people need. With all the bickering over the legalities, the moralities, and all that, I expect this thread will be locked shortly. But hopefully people can get the basic idea of what they need to know from this post.

Hi AdventurerKat I still didn't get "the call" as of 6:30pm today. It seems that someone else reported 170.00 total for 3 nights. 1 at the Poly and 2 at POR. I know that is way cheaper than any Fl. Resident rate out for that time period. I was just curious if she got lucky or do you know if they might be cutting people deals? Just curious, I'd be real happy with 170.00 for 3 nights at any moderate/deluxe.

Some of us were involved with obvious price errors in the past. I don't like to see "certified litigation paralegals" unethically if not illegally offer legal advise. There have been enough threads on enough internet boards to establish that UCC and state laws allow business to cancel orders, even if paid for, if there is an obvious pricing error.

Not to bicker, but since I believe this remark may have been directed towards me as I was the one who discussed the UCC, I am not a paralegal.. if you read my post clearly, I stated I'm an attorney.. I haven't seen any paralegals giving advice on this thread, other than one remark by one poster that said she would get the opinion of the attorney she worked for, which clearly isn't giving legal advice.

Hey I know you said they offered you the entire stay at FL rate. But would they allow you to attain a lower rate at one of the budget resorts? I guess what I am asking is, if I keep the first night of my ressie then move to All-stars will they give me the FL rate ($64) for the remainder of my stay.

Yes, you can do it on your own; take the cheap rate then book AS's on your own...seperate If I had wanted to stay at the Poly, it would be what ever it comes out to for a regular Fl resident rate. The rate for PO-R was $110.39. I just checked the AP rate & that would be $104! If you are going to stay extra nights, you are better off taking just the one night at the lower rate, then book a seperate ressie so they aren't linked. In the event that you had to drop a day, they will drop the lower rate day! I knew I wasn't going to drop so I did do the extra at PO-R, but what I should have done was the AP rate... I didn't think of it. I cannot change mine now..but for a matter of a few $ it isn't worth the hassle at this point. Botton line....
if you want to add nights you can at the actual Fl resident rate, or book seperate & do an AP rate if you can...saves some money

You're an attorney who said the UCC would allow Disney to get out of an obvious pricing error. How could my remark be directed to you?

I think you're the one who "needs to let it go already". You really don't have a right to ask that only FL residents post in someone else's thread.

I have a question to those who have received phone calls. When was your trip scheduled? I have not yet received a phone call and my trip is scheduled for Oct. 20th. It is now less than than 45 days until my trip and am technically not within the time frame to receive my deposit back should I decide to cancel. I would think they would be calling those of us who had trips scheduled earlier first. I am not worried about the deposit.... i can afford to lose $11.44 but wonder if legally they can change those who are scheduled to go in the next month. Maybe I am just being hopeful

Well I got the call again and clearly stated to them that the supervisor that I had talked to told me that Disney would honor the rate. He gave me attitude and then I told him that I just got back from doing hurricane relief work and that I had already spoken to the Boston Globe, Huntsville Times, LA Times, and Fox about this glitch while conducting some general conversations and they want me to email them if Disney does not honor it. I understand the glitch but I do not understand nasty WDW employees trying to trick you into changing your reservation. I hope this provides some bad press for not being a professional company. Good luck everyone.

I think it would be wonderful if they had a Florida Resident thread. Not to exclude others but to keep those of us who live in this state aware of the special deals and discounts. It is most certainly true that FL. residents get a lot of wonderful deals...but it must be true that we must also spend the most on WDW simply by the geographical access. I used to live in NC, CT and TN and we never visited WDW as much then.

FLorida residents keep the world going during low seasons, they dine more frequently at Epcot, etc. because of the special evening Epcot pass and discount dining cards, etc. And following 9/11 it was Florida residents who ventured back to WDW immediately (obviously because they could drive there when the planes were grounded). Seven families I know made a point of driving three hours north to visit WDW as a symbolic gesture of USA pride, saying quite loudly: we won't let them stop us. A little gesture in the face of horrible events, but that is what makes Florida residents so special to WDW as a business.

There are also many wonderful things about Florida that are not on the WDW property. A Florida resident section would encourage those in other areas of this state to share great things about their home towns. I live in Boca Raton and we have a ton of wonderful things to offer visitors, art museums, fabulous beaches, great dining, etc. People from other states could ask Florida specific questions too.

As for the rate glitch, it turned out exactly like my lawyer friend predicted. I think they handled it well, but I know some people were dissapointed. We are heading to WdW next weekend and will enjoy the light crowds, great weather (barring any hurricanes ) The Florida resident weekend visitors do make a difference!

Professional company?I would like to know what they are doing that is not professional?It was a tax glitch not a room rate glitch.If it had of been they would have honored it,but it wasnt.I think they are going above and beyond.They did not have to offer you anything,but they did.You should be happy.

BTW, How were they trying to trick you?

We were/are going 11/24 - 11/28. The CM I spoke to tonight seemed liberal with the cancellation policy for the glitch deal. I didn't feel any pressure. He told me to think it over and call back if I decided to keep it or cancel. If we cancel-full refund. He also said they would refund the $ for MVMCP tickets for 11/27 if we cancelled due to the circumstances-no problem. I think the bottom line is even if you don't talk to them about it in advance, when you check in the first night is given at the glitch rate and the rest of your nights are at Fl. resident rate (assuming I guess it's available at that time.)

there was no deal cut.. I had 2 rooms for one ressie which gave me 2 cheap nights... then 1 at regular FL resident rate..
1 PO-R ...................10.28
1 PO-R (reg FL rate) 110.39
1 Poly......................55.68

that equals 3 nights at actual total $176.35
I had 2 rooms because one was for my 19 yr old son, his friend & my daughter's boyfriend. They weren't staying as long as us. Now that I cannot stay the entire trip (not event he 4 nights they were staying), only ones going are me & my 2 daughters. Everyone else is staying home, we only need 1 room. I was allowed to take one night from each of the 2 then paid full rate for the extra night at PO-R... wish there was a deal cut. I can't complain... I am still way ahead...I did give up one of my nights, since it was on Thanksgiving. I didn't want to take a Sat away from someone that wanted an entire weekend. I had taken the Sat when I got my call, but canceled today. I am keeping my others because I was going to Orlando anyway on those days, only booked T-Day cause it was cheap. Disney actually thanked me for giving it back..

by the way.. count me in for a Fl resident board.. it can be run like a cm board...
