I haven't heard back from them yet. I called them yesterday and this morning. I'm doing their voicemail. So I am justing waiting. I really don't want to stay at all stars. I been there several times over the years.

This vacation is for cory and I. He is getting ready to go into the army next month. He is doing boot camp then next May he is to be ship to Iraq. I'm in college and this was the only time we can go. We both had to received special permission to go on this trip from work because this the busy season for our job.

No don't think you missed it, I didn't see it either. However, what has been the consensus, is that there are no rooms available at the Mod or Deluxe level.

I'm trying to check online right now.

OK ... having just checked (Aug 16 - 22) . There are no rooms at all. None of the resorts have any, value/mod/deluxe ...none nadda.

Now that's not to say that there aren't some that are being held back for this scenario.

OK .. also the way in which I searched was for a room for 2 Adults and 1 child for 6 nights. This may not be the exact situation the OP has but it gives us an idea.

Even checked for just 2 adults 6 nights, nothing.

Did you check rack rate rooms or free dining?

What? They are both values, with as much ambiance as a motel 6. How do you figure POP is better?

Double beds, no hot tubs, no nice restaurants, no slides, outdoor corridors, buildings made of cement block with a coat of paint slapped on them, loud food courts, etc.

I have stayed at all the values (at least twice) and they are all equally poor.

Was all this necessary !!

Do YOU feel better !:headache::headache:

Maybe its what one can afford. I have gone to your resorts but NOW prefer POP !

Disney is probably offering the move to All Stars in the hopes that enough people will consider it a lateral move and accept it happily.

Well, not IMO. We have three rooms booked at Pop beginning late next week. If I get a call like this, there is no way I am accepting the All-Stars without some compensation.
In June 2002, we were booked to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter, but then Disney shut down the resort after 9/11/01. We were offered the Wilderness Lodge for the same price and took that as I thought it was fair.

I want this trip to go as planned all along, but if Disney can’t honor our Pop reservation, I’m not settling for anything else less than a room with queen-sized beds.

This whole thread has me thinking that Pop will not be the same price as the All stars for very long. Kind of like WL and AKL are not the same as the other deluxes, I see Pop being the "preferred" value. Supply and demand will lead Disney down this road.

I also think not only the theme, but the age of the resort figures in as well. Just the fact that Pop is newer means more people will request it. It's location doesn't hurt either.

Just FYI, I we are booked at POP August 14-18th before moving to CBR and have not been contacted to switch resorts. Mine is a room only ressie, NOT FD.

I think it is sad that OP made the ressie back in April (I think she wrote). I would be upset if we got the call they did just a few days before we were to leave.

OP, hang in there. I agree with many posters here. Be nice, but stand your ground. I hope it all works out.

We are staying at POP next month. I hope they don't overbook us. But like another PP said we are just happy and thankful we get to go to Disney!! I am really looking forward to POP. I have never been to any of the value resorts so I didn't know that POP was preferred we just booked our trip and it happened to be at the POP resort. Im a little more excited now knowing that POP is one of the better ones!!

But not to get off topic. I hope that everything works out for you. Be kind and try to persue and upgrade or at lease something to compensate for their mistake. But like someone else said when you start making demands you usually get nothing! Good luck!!

Go girl! :goodvibes

We have a one night room only reservation at Pop for Aug. 17 which is Tuesday. I just tried to pull up my reservation on the disney website and it's not coming up. The site must be down at this time. I noticed that the only resort showing availability for next week is Coronado Springs. What is going on?

While I agree that you may want this. If there aren't any rooms with queen-sized beds to be had, and I don't think they are going to be building a new resort to accommodate that request instantaneously, so you may have to settle for what you get.

But let me say this. I wouldn't be happy about it, I would ask for compensation in another form. They can't give you what they don't have, so look for what they do have.

Also, I really hope that you don't face this situation. I don't wish it on anyone, nor do I want to face it, but if it comes I'll deal.

Could Disney be suspending all open rooms at all resorts right now that are left (which probably is not many due to FD and last week of summer vacation) and trying to take care of the overbooked from Pop?

I'd pay a premium, maybe up to 20% more to stay at POP, too much though it'd be advantage to stay at a moderate. The only value I've stayed at is POP, so I dont have any experience with the allstars but sharing the buses with all the all stars resorts is enough to make me choose POP. To me its about location and bus service.

I think someone needs a dose of a chill pill! I was just making the fact that a value resort is a value resort and that POP is not different from the AllStars.

I do not think of the values as having any kind of theming, so it would not matter to me if we were moved from one to another.

I hope this works out for you. This vacation sounds very special. Don't let this glitch ruin the whole trip. Wishing you much pixie dust! :wizard:

It seemed like you were using this thread as an easy opportunity to dump on the value resorts (i.e., "motel 6", "cinder blocks", etc.) and troll their fans and visitors.

I don't see the huge deal here. Pop is Pop. All Stars are about the same. It's not like you're booking the Poly and they have to move you to ASMOVIES. Eh, I wouldn't let it ruin a great upcoming vacation.

I notice you are staying at a deluxe - if I had time, I would love to see who is saying the values are comparable v. those who aren't - I would bet those who are saying they are comparable have not actually stayed there or just think all values are bad. I, on the other hand, have stayed at both and can adamantly say - all values are not created equal.

Maybe that explains why we have always found the CM at the All Stars to be the kindest in all of Disney. We have never, in all our trips, not had a wonderful CM experience.

I've stayed at all levels of resort and while I've had great service everywhere, the CM's at Movies have been the best, hands down. The Mousekeepers are great- always set up cool displays for the kids with their stuffed animals to find when we got home and left towel animals. They left a balloon and card for DMom when we were celebrating her birthday. The CM at check-in gave all kinds of goodies to my kids. The CM's at the food court were so upbeat (and this was during free dining) and helpful suggesting things we could get on the DP that we might not have thought of. We thoroughly enjoyed our stays there. pixiedust:

I've stayed at Movies, Music, Sports and Pop multiple times and I respectfully disagree. While each resort has different theming, there is not that much of a difference. Each resort has is strengths and weaknesses, but it is definitely a lateral move. That said, I would not be happy to be told I had to move right before my vacation as we really try to build up our resort of choice to all our travelers before our trip and it can be hard to change gears.
