I took DD to My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea last month. Well, wouldn't you know it, on the way out, they sent us up to the gift shop for a free scrapbooking kit. Now I certainly can't let it go to waste, so I guess I'll have to get started. (FYI, I am a perfectionist/control freak when it comes to typesetting and layout -- my profession -- which is why I've been avoiding scrapping all this time. I love watching the scrapping shows on DIY, but will I ever be truly happy with my layouts? I'm scared!)

Now for all of my truly clueless questions. The package contained 3 12" x 12" (I'm guessing) pages. What the heck do I do with them? Do I cut them up, use them as backgrounds, or both? If I use the full sheet as a background, where can I get an appropriate-sized album? (I don't want to spend a lot, but it seems inevitable.) OK, and really stupid question, how do I insert the finished pages into an album?

What should I use as my adhesive? How careful do I need to be about acid-free and archival-quality and all those other terms I know nothing about?

Does CM or the other home shows offer remedial classes? Sounds like I need them, huh?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice!

To start off welcome to the land of scrapping. Beware, it is very addictive.
I have the perfectionist person in me too but I'm learning to let that go knowing that my pages will be from the heart and that is all that matters.
Now to start from the beginning. You can purchase albums at Walmart, Michaels, ACMoore, or your local scrapbooking store(LSS). Albums come in several sizs, my personal favorite is 12x12. You can pretty much do anything you want with your paper. If the album you choose is a top loading album you just slide the finished page into the top of the plastic. There are a lot of adhesives out there and you will use more than one. Yes archival and acid free is important for preserving your pictures.
I would start by finding a CM consultant in your area or go to a beginners class at your local craft or scrapbook store. I started on my own and I feel like I'm playing catch up.
The biggest advice I can give is to enjoy the process. My favorite site for getting ideas and inspiration is twopeasinabucket.com they have some very talented people there and some of them are from this board.
Enjoy!

LOL, you came to a great place for answers. The ladies around here know a lot - they'll have you hooked in no time at all ;)

You can scrap any size album you'd like. I would say that it depends on the number of Disney pics you have that you want to scrap. Most of my albums are 12 x 12 but I take a lot of pics. You can cut your paper down to whatever size album you decide on (yes, it's O.K. to cut and even tear your paper).

I tend not to use print paper for my whole page, but that is just me. I like to use it as a border or an accent

Lots of glue choices out there. I like the Hermafix tabs because I can get them at Michaels (sales & coupons are always good)

CM does have home classes (the CM's are nice enough to not call them remedial, lol). If you have a Michaels nearby, check and see if there is a beginner class.

That's a start. Have fun :wizard:

Most things now are acid free, but do make sure. Creative Memories does offer good ideas and neat supplies, but I usually find less expensive and just as good items at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc. CM does have some things that I can't find anywhere else though, depending on what you are looking for. Don't get overwhelmed with it. My pages are not very fancy, but I get them done pretty quick and I can enjoy my books sooner! If I try to do too much, I tend to put it off and never finish. Have fun!

Oh my goodness! Just think of all the fun you'll have scrapping your Disney memories with your DD! I have to agree---scrapbooking is very addictive! Once you get started, you can't make a trip anywhere without checking around for scrap stuff. I'm guilty of scrounging around at WDW for scrapping things, and found all kinds of cute supplies!

Just beware---reading this board may entice you to join up with the swaps! The people on this board a sooooo creative. You just wouldn't believe the beautiful things they make for pages!

Isn't that why we all scrap :rotfl: JK -- whatever, however you do it, it will be fine, and your DD will LOVE IT  !!
