Hi. What I am trying to find out is if Disney has a store where they sell irregular items? Every item that is made can not be "perfect". What does Disney do with the items that are not up to standard? Is there a store that sells them? Please let me know what you can.

at a store you will more than likely never have access to.

if you would like discounted theme park merchandise, you can visit a character premier store at outlet malls. There's one in orlando at the prime outlets, and there's one in south florida at sawgrass mills. They sell mostly discontinued items and outdated items at 50% off. Good place to stock up on pins for trading.

If you ever go to purchase an item that is not perfect they will replace it with another. If that is the last item, they will not sell it to you, or even knock a percentage off like other retail stores.

DH's family sends my girls damaged/flawed parks merchandise quite often.

They are retired CM's from WDW. I think they said there is a regular sale for employees to buy that sort of thing.

I worked at The Disney Store many years ago, like 12 years ago. Back then we were not allowed to sell anything damaged. If we didn't catch something and someone showed us (hoping to get a discount) we could not sell it. I don't know what happened to the stuff (maybe I did at the time, I don't remember now) but the one thing I so remember was what happened to snowglobes. I remember cause it was heartbreaking. They had to be destroyed. I remember it so clearly, there was a big bucket to catch all the glass and the manager would break them with a hammer. I really hope that has changed.

I worked at TDS also, clothing etc that was damaged was boxed up for pick up by a local charity. Collection pieces, artwork, etc, we had to destroy. Pained me to see a perfectly good animation cel put into the trash compactor because the frame was damaged.

the mail order/online store has an outlet at the distribution plant in SC. They don't actually make anything there, it comes from various manufacturers, then is sent to customers. Anything that is damaged or just returned for whatever reason, is sold out of a small store. Lately they've been having some clothing from both parks and Disney Adventurers also. Dd11 found a heavy pull-over sweat shirt with a hood for $9, blue tie dye, from WDW. Nothing wrong with it at all! It's hit or miss, sometimes they have a lot of great stuff, sometimes not much is in stock. They were recently told the center is moving to Nashville, to consolodate with another part of the company there. The paper said by July, but I asked the cm at the register and he said they keep changing the date. First it was in a year, then it was this Aug, now they're saying they don't have a date but they are definately closing. The cm's are understandably upset, there just aren't any jobs in Union County, SC.

In Va, There is an outlet store at Potomac Mills Outlets Mall. This mall is off Interstate 95. The store always get slightly out of season clothes and items that are no longer popular at the moment Very good prices.

I don't know if they still do this, but when I was a CM in the early 90s they took all the defective merchandise from the shops and sold them at a cast-member-only sale in the MK utilidor once a week. It was called "bargain basement". The stuff would be 60-90% off retail price. Some of the stuff would just be a little dirty, while others would be nearly destroyed. My roomate worked in the Main Street shops so she could scope out what was being sent down to the sale.
.

My husband once bought me a snowglobe at the Disney store (which was one of those closed the last couple of years) there was a leaf that had been knocked of in the back and because of the way it was situated it wasnt noticeable. He was given 40% off the regular price because of it. Sounds like this was not typical.
