ok so I am very interested in doing a disney interniship in college. I would consider going during the spring session...or possibly the summer. I would really want a job working at a ride...or possibly as a lifeguard.
Has anyone taken off from their college to do the internship? was it worth it? would you do it again? What year in college did you participate? any tips? I'd appreciate any feedback! ~smiles4life
DD is there now. You don't get much choice in the job. She got lucky. Tof T. She is doing the extended program. Began Feb 1 and will be done Aug 18. One of her roommates plays Belle, another is in entertainment too, but I don't know doing what. They walk around at orientation and look for people who will fit the roles they need. Short people get to be MM.
She is picking up six credits (two courses) and is hoping to catch up and graduate with her class. She did officially have to withdraw from school but that situation is up to the individual college. She will be a junior this fall, 20 years old.
She is having a blast. She chose the spring semester so as not to be away from home for the major holidays, Christmas and New Years, but once accepted, she was offered the chance to go early and work over those holidays. Her application was done on line and her interview was done on the phone.
A couple things. They guarantee 35 hours per week. She gets those and more if she wants. Her expenses consist of groceries and gas. She has good relations with her roommates. She isn't saving much money because after they take the room costs out of her pay ($71.00 per week-six in the apartment), there isn't a lot left.
Don't know if you've seen the website so here it is.

If you search around some of the websites, Jim Hill articles, you'll read horror stories about the program from some former participants. It seems to be a lot like a college campus. Some kids take college seriously, work hard and have fun. Others put the fun first and may encounter problems. She and her roommates sat down the first weekend and decided there would be nothing going on in the apartment which would jeopardize their standing inthe program. They WILL send you home if you are caught breaking rules. No questions asked, and you will NEVER work for Disney or any of its subsidiaries.
She's a very positive person and seems to have the right stuff for working there. She loves Disney and really wants to work there after college.
Hope this helps. Good luck in your decision.
