Hi... would you include the Disney insurance option even with the new flexibility policy for cancelling/changing dates?
Thanks

You definitely need travel insurance when sailing. If an accident or other medical emergency happens onboard or on a remote island, you might need a medical airlift, and those cost several tens of thousands of dollars. Travel insurance typically covers that (read the coverages & exclusions of your offered policy before buying). Disney's insurance covers that, but so do most others. You're not limited to Disney insurance.

Plus, if you get sick or injured just a week before sailing & can't go, or there's a death in your family shortly before sailing, etc., the flexibility policy won't help you if it's less than 15 days before sailing. Travel insurance will. Just read the coverages & exclusions of the policy & follow the rules if filing a claim.

We’ve always relied on the insurance included with our Chase Sapphire card, but we’ve never had to use it. I hope it’s sufficient.

Does it have any medical benefits?

When I'm traveling to countries outside of the US, I take into consideration what happens if I were to get very sick or injured while on a cruise or ashore. A large number of US health insurance policies have no medical coverage outside the US.

I can self insure for the loss of a typical cruise in the Caribbean. I'm not going to want to self insure for a 2 week or longer cruise in Europe. I know I'm not willing to self-insure for a car accident in St. Thomas or a stroke in Greece.

Obviously, it is rare to have any medical issues when you travel, but it would be a good idea to look at your insurance policies and make sure they are providing some type of medical coverage.

We have always purchased GeoBlue. We can self insure for the cost of a Caribbean cruise, but not health/evacuation. One of the great benefits of GeoBlue is it is not a reimbursement insurance. They have a network of doctors, hospitals, urgent care through out the world. The health provider will bill directly to GeoBlue. A serious health problem in another country could run tens of thousands of dollars. I only have so much available credit on a credit card.

Oh, and forgot to mention that this is a Blue Cross product.
