Disney insults us all yet again!

For those who rarely used ee, like us, you are incorrect to assume it has little impact on you. Taking away ee shortens the total hours the park is open. This had a noticeable impact at MK in June. Closing time at that time of year was this year an hour earlier than before. That coupled with disposal of ee meant 2 to 2 1/2 hours were taken out of the usual park time for key Mon Thurs and Sat days. Impact--I have never seen MK more crowded during most of the day in June than it was this June. It was like Easter and Christmas time for crowd size during peak hours of the day. In other words the lower number of total hours the more crowded any particular hour is going to be and it was horendous in June. Thus you are affected even if you don't use ee.

I ALWAYS used EE when we stayed on site and it was the main reason i stayed on site and paid the extra money to stay onsite!! Unlike Brier Rose i believe getting extra time to spned at the park rather than wasting it in bed much improved our disney experience and in no way detracted from it!!! The last several years we went when it was slower but that didnt detract from EE at all. Nothing is more magical to have no lines and have your kids interact with the disney characters without them being rushed our people getting in the way!! They usually let you in the park abiut 2 hrs early and it was always great to get most of Fanastyland done with no lines and alot of tomorrow land. MAybe some want to wait along time for Dumbo and consider it time well spentbut i dont!! E nights are just another crass way for wdw to make money while reducing the normal park hours!!! And like somebody else said, it was always a special time for our family to be in MGM or walking down main street with it not busy, try magic!! For my family EE was worth the money to stay on site, and at a deluxe resort. But without EE I wont stay onsite and will save alot of money in the process.
And comparing EE to Enights is apples and oranges!!! E nights was a result of the park closingits doors early then making everybody pay for what they used to get as part of the park admission!!
And the letter scoopwould have had wdw sendout would have been the same BS as what this thread was started about. If they were honest they would say that EE was cancelled due to payouts over numerous lawsuits the company has paid out, the hiring of incompetent people and bad business decisions the company made, and as a result the parks/resorts are being cutback to pay for massive losses in other units of the company. But we cant expectthe truth can we??

I just got the confirmation docs for my oct. trip in the mail, and I have to tell everyone, I was beside myself when I read the contents. Specifically, there was a little insert promoting the character caravan. What KILLS me is that on it, it says the "we created CC and got rid of early entry because you, the public, wanted it!" story we all have been hearing for months now.

and this is new news? Can't we come up with something else to talk about?

Wouldn't that "carrot" you refer to be the reduced rates for on-site resorts? As someone else pointed out, you can't easily beat $89/night at PO right now. A friend of mine just stayed at the Contemporary for $89 a night! This was last week, during the Disneyana Convention.
I can't be the only one who remembers $199/night for a deluxe resort in the summer being a good rate.

LOL, Sorcerer, I certainly remember thinking back in 1993 that $130 for a Riverview at DXL during off season was outstanding. I think everyone has just gotten spoiled, and it has become a game of seeing who can get the most for less!

and that is a bad thing??

Of course getting the most for your dollar isn't a bad thing! But let's all try to keep a firm grasp on reality. Folks are complaining b/c EE has been eliminated, thus reducing the value of staying on-site. But prices have also been reduced (for a variety of reasons, of course, not just EE). Yes, Disney has conditioned us to expect the sun, the moon and the stars, but let's not ask for the rest of the universe too ;)

I e-mailed WDW last week about the reduction in MK hours in August and the fact that no E-ride nights are scheduled in the future. I did not list my telephone, but they had me in their system from my complaints lodged last year (November - when one day they actually were ready to close the park because of capacity - no crowds????). I was told that while their hotels may be full you would be surprised how many people stay for 3 weeks on their property and don't set foot in a park !!!! They do check travel publications to gage their hours. I asked if they were going to reduce the price to the MK since they drastically reduced the operating hours, had no early entry as a perk for WDW resort guests and no e-ride nights -- you know the reply!

I ended my note asking when Mr. Eisner would be replaced as Chairman. The Customer Service rep didn't touch that one, but I brought it up in conversation. She said Mr. Eisner is a team player. My response was I don't think so. He is using WDW as the cash cow to pay for his other ventures and that the utters were going dry. I told her if he was such a team player, why does she probably get paid barely minimum wage to take our guff. I told the cast member it was not her fault, but that hopefully someone in a higher position would take our complaints seriously and do something about them.

I can only say let's e-mail and write letters to let WDW how we feel.

All I can say is keep sending those e-mails and letters.

This reply is not to bash anyone of you folks that have been posting about the ee and cc.I have stayed on property for the last two years and soon to stay for the third in October. We have never done the EE! What's the BIG deal about it anyway? This is our fifth year as a family, going to DisneyWorld with our kids and many times before they were born;and no matter how much we love going to the parks, this EE thing is a little silly. What I am seeing here,is a lot of adults pitching a fit about "to EE or not to EE". What I say,is get to the parks by 9,maybe 10,and stay until it closes. If that's not enough time to see and do everything, then something's wrong with everyone's plan of attack. We went to MK last year, got there at 9-9:30,park closed at 7;00,but we left at 6:00! Saw and did everything that we chose to do;no EE! I read several posts here, and I just had to give my opinion about EE and CC. Face it folks,Disney is Disney, and they will do what they want, when they want and how they want;and none of us can change that.If we could, don't you think many of us would have already lowered the admission prices to a whole lot lower price that $50 per adult? Sure we would! But we can't and we have to either accept it or just don't go! Same goes for EE and CC.Personally,I like to go to Disney World,I like the magical atmosphere that I feel when there, and I enjoy just being there, period. So I accept the prices and all of the other inconvienences that we face. It's your choice folks. We can all get bent out of shape over EE and CC,or we can go down there, have a great time and enjoy bringing some joy to our kids.I choose the latter.
NOTE: I know some of you folks are going to get bent out of shape with me about this post. That is not my intention;I just wanted to shed some light on this ridiculous debate. But if you must bash me,go ahead;I don't care!In the meanwhile,I'll be getting ready for another awesome trip to the BIG 'D' in October, and I WILL have a great time;without!....EE!
You folks have a good day,and I hope this reply doesn't offend anyone, because that is not my intention, and I mean that.

I would love it if they would keep the parks open LATER! When we are on vacation, we like to sleep, and I have found that is a problem. We visited last March and were so disappointed that AK closed at 5. Even Epcot closed fairly early. My family felt that next time, we will check hours more carefully and not "waste" a ticket if the parks are not open very late. This is where having an annual pass would be great -- you could just visit the parks "whenever" and not worry about the $50 per person!

I think "early entry" sounds great and I understand folks missing it, but my family of snoozer-losers would rather have LATE hours available!

“…then something's wrong with everyone's plan of attack”

I go to WDW for a vacation with my family, not to reenact the Normandy invasion. I am paying for a nice and enjoyable vacation; there is a definite limit to the amount of inconvenience, hardship and suffering that I will endure. Having to rush through the park and plan each and every moment of my vacation simply to maximize the profit potential for some suits is not something I willingly do.

“Face it folks, Disney is Disney, and they will do what they want, when they want and how they want”

Yes, and people are people who will do what they want and how they want. The plunging attendance in Orlando and the emptiness at California Adventure points out that “what Disney wants” is no longer something that people are willing to pay for.

“It's your choice folks. We can all get bent out of shape over EE and CC, or we can go down there, have a great time and enjoy bringing some joy to our kids.”

I am honestly glad you have made your choice. But as a stockholder I am deeply concerned that many millions of people have made another decision. As has become obvisious, millions of people are finding other great ways of bringing joys to their childern.

“I hope this reply doesn't offend anyone”

Nor is mine. Whether one accepts or rejects the cancellation of Early Entry, E-Nights and the reduced hours is not the point. What is the point is how the vast majority of Disney customers are reacting to the changes. Because something is not a hardship or an disappoint does not make it "a ridiculous debate" to the millions who did enjoy it.
