Hi. I know the Disney Inn doesn't exist anymore but I'd like to know more about it. Did anyone ever stay there? What was the "theme" and do you have pictures of it? While I generally don't like to harp on things that don't exist anymore what I've heard about the inn intrigues me. Thanks :)

Thank you for the link! From what I can tell it looked quaint ah well.

My family just stayed there once, in May of 1993. It was a lovely hotel, unlike any Disney resort before or since, closer to a bed-and-breakfast than a resort. It had a subtle Snow White theme which masked the fact that the resort was once called the Golf Resort. Room sizes were second only to the Contemporary.

Its restaurant, the Garden Gallery, was an open, airy dining area which served a delicious French fried ice cream.

I remember walking to the Polynesian to catch the monorail. Watching a bunch of people crossing the street to the Poly in the mornings was an unexpected delight (as were the bunnies, and alligators in the pond).

Anyone else have happy memories?

Yes my DD and I loved that place. Even though she was small she enjoyed it. I remember that in the afternoons they had free cookies and lemonade on the verandah when we took a break from the parks. The pool was small, but nice. I seem to think it was in the shape of Mickey's head. Is this right? I also remember the gators on the sidewalks between the Poly and the Inn!

I loved the picture of Sleepy on the resort sign....it was very cute! I do remember the Garden Gallery it did have an airy feel to it....very Florida tropical. Only stayed there once but it was my first trip to Disney so it holds a special place for me!

Bob P........Cool website! Thanks for sharing the link! :flower:

I stayed there three years in a row with my high school swim team, and have great memories of that resort. The rooms were very large, and it had a nice pool. I have lots of pictures of ducks swiming there every morning, but it was not a special themed pool that I recall. We took a team photo every year in front of a dragon topiary. (dragon was our mascot)

I had almost forgotten about the fried ice cream! :earboy2:

I remember that resort well. We also stayed there in Feb 1994 (when Shades of Green opened) and loved it. Very quaint and I remember looking out over the golf courses. I have some cute pictures from sitting on the front porch area in the rockers they had.

Stayed there several times. My parents loved the large guest rooms and that it tended to be a quiet resort. Very laid back environment with a touch of its original name the Golf Resort.

We also use to stay there when I was in high school when the resort was both the Disney Golf Resort and Disney Inn in the 80's. I know that everyone knows how at checkin, the CM hands you a bunch of info (maps, show times, park hours, etc.), but does anyone remember when Disney resorts used to put all of your guest info in a itenerary folder with the resorts logo on it and hand it to you at checkin? I still have the printed folder with all of the logos and guest information in them for both the Golf Resort and Disney Inn.

I stayed there as well. Bunnies would come on the patio in the morning and the rooms were large compared to most of the other resorts. I remember walking in one evening and the flowers surrounding the walkway were all yellow and the next morning when I walked out they were all red. The gardening crew had come in while we were asleep and changed all the flowers....I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't imagining things. It was so peaceful and quiet at this resort. I really enjoyed it.

No pictures...sorry.

However, we stayed there a LONG time ago when it was the Golf Resort. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, golfing, swimming, the rooms were big, dining had a "Disney" feel as well as a "club" feel....if that makes sense! :rotfl:

We loved it!
