Disney infinity power packs

Hi,
I am hoping someone can clear my confusion about the power packs. If I'm understanding correctly, these are discs that you place on the console with the figures and it adds/unlocks additional features, etc. They are sold "blind" where you don't know which discs you're getting, but you can scan the packages on a portal in the store or at home to see which you are getting. Is all of that correct? If so, my question is: do you need to a disc to match the characters you have, or will any disc work with any figure? We are only planning on buying the sidekicks to match the characters in the starter pack, so do I need to keep going through the packs until I find one of those three characters? If I can't figure out what they are in advance, we could go through a lot of money on these!

Nothing to worry about. And if you end up with a lot of duplicates, there is a trading thread on the Online Games board.

What's a power pack? Sorry , got Disney infinity but I'm outta the loop :/

So it's just additional features? The game will work without the power packs, or do I need to get them just for it to work? Sorry I guess I'm thick understanding their purpose.

Yes! They're only $5 and they come with 2 in a pack, so that's not bad... But if you want a particular one and can't figure out what they are before buying, then that can add up and you risk getting duplicates. Although Jrmasm said there are trading boards/places. I'll prob just get one pack so that shouldn't be a problem for us. Evidently there are certain ones that are coveted, but I don't know which ones they are!
