Its a giant money pit. You have to buy the game (prices vary). Then you need to buy figures (approx $10-15 each). Then, if you really want to play the game to its fullest potential....you have to buy discs. Two discs in a pack for a bargain of $4.99. Only problem with the discs is that you are buying them randomly, as the packages aren't marked. So if you buy 4 packs of discs, you may end up with 4 of the same discs. Quite a money game Disney has started with this series.

It's a video game. You can buy it on any gaming system except for xbox one and ps4. Here is what it is. You have to buy a starter kit first and then you buy different characters to play the different worlds. Here is a link to toysrus. It cost a lot to get started. Most of the characters cost 15 dollars each. My wife is into it I am not. I don't understand it all. Good luck

Disney Infinity is an action-adventure game with physical toys, open world creation and story-driven gameplay. Characters, play-sets and other features are brought into the game using figurines and discs with the included Infinity Base. With the exception of non-humanoid characters, such as those from the Cars series, each character has a double jump and a default set of attacks, as well as an ability unique to each figure. For example, Sulley can roar to scare others whilst Violet can turn invisible. There are two main modes in this game: Play Set[4] and Toy Box.[5] Each play set is essentially a self-contained world with its own gameplay, based on a specific movie or series with recognizable characters and storylines. Characters from one world cannot enter into another world, but players can put any character together in Toy Box mode. Toy Box is a sandbox mode that players can fully customize and explore.

It's Disney's version of Skylanders which is a much bigger money pit because there are way more figures out for that. All you need to play the game is the starter set. If you want to both play in the same world, you need a second figure from that world. If it's just here, you just need the starters which will give you three worlds to play and three different characters. The disks are unnecessary.

Definitely a lot of money for this. The boys I nanny have 18 of the characters (at an average of $10-15 per character, that's $200 at least!) and are still asking for more of them for Christmas. It's a fun game, don't get me wrong, but there are other fun games that don't involve buying new characters every time one comes out!

From what I understand, on the old Wii platform, you can only use the starter set except for in toy box mode you can use the other ( non starter) figures. I have read about many people who were totally frustrated by this. I would get it in the xbox 360 platform so that you aren't wasting money on figures you can use in the journey part of the game.

I have played this with my grandson (Xbox), and quite frankly, don't think it's that fun, although my grandson enjoys messing around in the sandbox. We prefer Skylanders.
