My husband and I were in Vegas in November. We met a guy who sells property in Vegas and he told us that Disney had bought land in Vegas. Has anyone else heard this? I couldn't imagine them putting any family oriented park there, but maybe offices of some type. Who knows maybe that guy uses that line to try and sell property!

These rumors come up all over the place where Disney has supposedly bought property here, there and everywhere, if they were all true, Disney would own most of the country by now.

On the off-chance that it were true, it would not make sense to build a theme park in Vegas. Others have tried without success. A few years back, Vegas tried to become more family oriented and it just didn't work. Vegas does best with the 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas' theme.

What could possibly make sense is using the land for a DVC resort. There have been rumors that DVC is once again looking to build resorts off of the WDW property. Every major timeshare operation has a presence in Vegas, if DVC were going to expand in a big way, they would almost have to do Vegas at some point.

shhh....that's their secret plan

I think it would definately make sense for DVC to expand into Vegas at some point. I'm sure it would really help their appeal to young couples with a bit of cash who are thinking of buying into timeshare. I know the timeshare owners I know would definately be more interested in DVC if it'd resorts were more widespread, especially including Vegas. The family-orientated thing didn't work in Vegas but there are still plenty of families that visit, a Disney hotel off the strip would be great for them as it would be a more family friendly option with the fantastic Disney childcare that would allow the parents to have a night by themselves on the strip.

Anything's possible of course, and I guess a Vegas DVC could make sense. But I'd think there would be other locations that would fit better, if Disney was going to go off-site again.

If you want to, you can trade your DVC points and get a nice timeshare there. We did it a few years ago.

I own a week in Vegas with Polo and frankly it is too much for me. I LOVE Vegas, but I party so hard when I am there (especially with male friends) that frankly it just becomes too much. But a DVC would be great for spending less than a week, especially since nice vegas hotels are getting ridiculously expensive.

That's a great idea! :rotfl:

They could have Character Blackjack!

They could replace the show girls with the Seven Dwarfs

How about Cocktail Mouseketeers to serve the soft drinks while at the Thompson's...I mean Thommy Races?

They can have Cinderella be a dealer

This could be great

Finally, my dreams of a disney character go-go bar seem that much closer to a reality. Hippeee!

Now if they could just put one in Pleasure Island the attendance would skyrocket.
