Hello everyone,
I am soooo excited to have found a Disney board for Canadians. My family and I will be going to Disney in September to celebrate my 40th birthday. We have gone to Disney in January, May and June months but never in September.
What are the crowds and the weather like? Last year we went in May and it was soooo hot. My 5 year old has epilepsy and heat plays a factor in his having seizures. Luckily he only had one when we were there last May, but that was one too many.
Also we are staying at the Pop Century, normally we stay at one of the All Stars so I would love to hear what people have to say about the Pop century.
Thanks!!!

Welcome to the Disboards! We warn you - it's addicting! Sounds like you are already in the Disney frame of mind!

We were in WDW in Sept 02 and it was a great time! It was hot and humid (30 degress C). The crowds were quite low. The only day we had a heavy crowd was on Saturday in the MK which was the only day with Specto and fireworks. The parks did close quite early during the week. Of course we were there over the first anniversary of 9/11 so was probably quieter than other years as some had fears of flying that week.

Haven't stayed at PC so can't comment on it.:wave2:

We are going the end of September and also staying at POP....also my first Sept. visit and my first time at POP.

I was at PC in March. The rooms were bright and clean, the "new" smell was still there. There were 2 double beds in our room, and not much space to move around, one of the beds was right at the door. Some people complained about noises, but I found it ok. I could hear toilets flashing occasionally; I can hear our other washrooms being used at home anyways, so it didn't bother me. I heard the people in the next room only twice and it wasn't loud. The food court was great, there were lots of choices and the price was reasonable. The gift shop was well stocked, and the staffs were friendly. But bare in mind, the check in line was pretty long when we went, there seems to be a line every time we passed by that area. Bus services were good, it serviced PC only and didn't stop at any other resorts. We never waited more than 15 minutes, although there were standing rooms only most nights when we went back to the hotel. Overall, it was a great experience. So, have fun!

Welcome to the DIS Tinkerjane.

We stayed at the POP for 3 nights last month and really enjoyed it...I prefer it to the AS. The resort was definitely crowded but Disney does a wonderful job of accommodating everyone (especially the busing...they just keep bringing them at park closing and we were back at the resort in no time).

As another poster said, the resort is brand new, which is really nice. We spent 10 nights at the POFQ right before and although the POP rooms are smaller, we didn't really find it bad at all...we're not in the room much anyway.

BTW...everyone complains about the toilets but the only one I ever heard was the one in our room...we didn't have a problem with noise at all.

Have a great birthday with Mickey. :)

Hi Tinkerjane, welcome to the DIS! :)

I was at POP for a week in March with DH and again with DisneyLisa in July. It is my new favourite Value resort.

It is a lively resort but also has a really nice relaxing pathway along Hourglass Lake to stroll along. Your DS will probably enjoy playing in the Goofy splash pad near the 70's building.

We found that sitting at a table on the far left of the Food Court, near the Classic Concoctions bar area, a little less hectic as it can be quite busy during peak meal times. But like the buses, Disney does an excellent job of keeping any lines at the various food stations, moving quickly.

If you have not already done so, be sure to check out the Far Out Pop Century FAQ thread: Here

Have a magical birthday! :wizard:

Welcome! My DH took me to WDW in May to celebrate my 40th! Somehow took the "edge" off that birthday! Enjoy!
We have done WDW 6 times in Sept. I do have to warn you that September is quite hot and humid. It is usually high 80s to mid 90s every day and humid for the typical Canadian ;) We love the time of year tho as there are no lines for anything - most we've ever waited for a ride was about 5 minutes. We get up and arrive at the parks first thing and then around noon head back to our on-site hotel for a rest/swim and then go back to the parks around 4-5pm for more rides/dinner. Even at night, we never have to wear sweaters...just watch - I say all this about hot weather and then this year it will turn cold!! We'll be heading down in late Sept again this year! Have fun. Jo

We are going down too in September. We have never been in September before but I think overall the weather should be okay.

We stayed at the POP Century for one night in January and we are going to stay there again next month. We really enjoyed it there. We weren't there long enough last time to really see all that much, so hopefully we will have more time to explore this year.

We went to Disney last September and the weather was perfect. It seemed to be in the high 70's low 80's the whole time and very little rain. We stayed at PO. The crowds at Disney were not overwhelming and we had very little time standing in long lines.
My DB,DSIL,myself and DD(Dad)went. We drove and had a great trip. My DB investigated the heck out of everything and was able to get deals on everything. I'm taking my DD(daughter)DGD and DGS next September. Geez Disney is sure addictive. IF I had the funds I'd go again on my holidays next month. I just got back from there in May.LOL:wave:

YAY!!!!
Thank you so much for all your input. The excitement is surely buildiing and I can hardly wait. I am by far the most excited out of my husband and 2 sons (and always am.)
I can NEVER get enough of Disney and hopefully never will.

BTW - I am sooooo addicted to this board.

:teeth: Jane
