Disney in May with a seven month old. What do I need to know?

We took our Daughter on a Disney cruise when she was ten months old, and spent one day at the Magic Kingdom afterward, but this May we are taking her and our brand new little boy for a week long visit to the World. He will be seven months old then.

My question is, beyond the obvious 'give the kid a break for naps and such' thing, what else do I need to know for the trip? Any tips or tricks to make it easier? Right now Colby is a super good traveler and will sleep ANYWHERE and loves to sleep in his stroller, but I know that might not be the case by May when he will be much more awake and mobile. My Daughter will be a month away from being seven when we go so it has been a while since I've had a seven month old. She has been to Disney many times so I am not stressing about her as much as what I need to think about to make the trip fun with/for our wee boy.

Thanks!

I'm going to say get yourself a sling! I recommend the 'hotslings' type, where it's just one piece. You can even nurse discreetly with one! They're nice when you're in lines and can't use your stroller, and they fold up like a t-shirt. :thumbsup2 I used mine for DD14mo and it was great.

Also- find out where all the Baby Care centers are. They're a lifesaver. They're air conditioned, the staff are helpful, there are bathrooms for mom/dad/sibling and changing tables for baby. They even sell emergency items like bottles, paci's, "emergency change" clothes, and balmex...and they don't charge you an arm and a leg. :thumbsup2

You're lucky that your DS will sleep in his stroller, that's the best!

Have a great trip!

Sunscreen! And a baby hat. Check with your pediatrician to see when you can start using sunscreen (it used to be six months, but that might have changed) and try it out at home to make sure your DS doesn't react to it. You will all need lots of sunscreen in May, but especially infant skin.

If you will be nursing, make sure to drink plenty of water so you can stay hydrated (and keep your DS hydrated). Ask your doctor about giving water to your DS - I can't remember if that is recommended or not. It will be HOT in May.

Orlando water is not the best tasting. Bring or buy bottled water if you will be mixing formula.

The Baby Care Centers are wonderful - spacious, air conditioned, and with nursing chairs and places to feed if your DS has started solids.

Pack more diapers than you think you need or plan for a grocery stop. Diapers are expensive in the World!

Bring your stroller from home. The rental strollers are not very supportive of an infant, and he will sleep better in his own stroller.

Always bring extra outfits to the parks.

I know it's a no brainer but when you are shelling out $20 for a sleeper because you forgot to repack the diaper bag and your DD had a blowout diaper in the middle of DAK...:headache:

When my DD went at 7mo she had more fun than anyone. She's always been my "challenge", but she was so engaged with her surroundings the entire trip. We had a blast!

Get a stroller fan to keep him cooler and seek out the splash areas for kids on hotter days - the one in toontown is a great one.

Oh, I think you can also buy extra large sun shades to attach to the stroller - that might be helpful when waiting for parades and things, or when DS is napping. At that age there's a good chance he'll nap in the stroller very well and you won't need to leave for naps at the hotel. My sister found with her 2 little ones they slept better if she just left them in the stroller than if she tried to get them back to the room and into bed - by then they were wide awake.
