Disney in March

We just booked Florida for March 11-18. We have never went to Disney over spring break. We always go in the off season as my dd is autistic and the smaller the crowds the better. DS is now in high school and it is to hard to pull him out of school, so we had to book over the school's spring break. I'm concerned about how busy/crowded it will be. We have been spoiled by going in October before and having very small crowds. Tell me what you think. Thanks!

We have been to WDW during Spring break for the past 8 years because of kids in school.
A lot depends on when Easter is. Before Easter, it's busy, but not that bad. The closer you are to Easter, the busier it is. It get noticeably busier during the week of Easter - Easter Sunday the busiest.
For 2006, Easter is April 16th, so your time should not be too bad. Advantages are that the parks often have longer hours.
If you are able to get to the parks early, you will find small crowds and short waits. Two years ago, DH, our older DD, niece and nephew went to MK one day at opening and were able to see everything in Fantasyland, plus Splash Mountain and Space Mountain by late morning - some of the Fantasyland stuff more than once.
So, all of the hints about avoiding crowds that help at other times also work during Spring break. Get to the parks early if you can, use Fastpass and keep in mind that some of the things that are busy early in the day will be less busy later.

We visited about that same period this past March 2005, and also have visited late October for the past nine years. Nothing compares to the low crowd volumes in late Fall before the holidays, but we were surprised that the crowds were not so bad that March. As Sue suggests, we were there at opening and walked onto near-empty rides; left after lunch and returned late afternoon. Our little delegation is young, and we are under no pressure to ride everything, and our visits are relaxed and sublime. Mostly.
