I will be at Disney this March 15-19. I know it is peak season and some colleges have spring break but most younger schools do not. Has anyone been there during this time? How is the weather? Is it crowded? I usually go the first week of Jan. so any advice is great. I've heard to avoid more crowds and lines you should go to the left upon entering, that most people veer right naturally. Is this true? Thanks so much.princess:

We were there lat year that time. Weather was great. Not really crowded. No major long lines. You should have a nice trip at that time

We'll be there the same week, because that's when our son has spring break. (He's in elementary school - TX) I'm sure the weather will be great. I've never been there at that time of year, so I don't know what to expect in terms of crowds... We're just hoping for the best, and I plan on making the most of the fastpasses!

And I have heard about the veering right thing too... I've heard that most stores (as well as theme parks) make the most of this natural tendency by placing the items they want to "push" to the right of the entrance. Most people naturally go that way, but I make it a point to go left specifically to avoid crowds and such.

Have a great trip!

Actually, it is Spring Break for many school districts. Us, for instance!

We'll be there, and I know several other families from my area who will be there, too.

Plan on crowds, take your time, use FastPass, go left instead of right, squeeze in an early afternoon break from the crowds if you can, take advantage of attractions with very short waits even if they weren't part of your plan... We've gone several times during Spring Break, and haven't found the crowds to be deal breakers using these strategies.

And it's important during crowded times to make PS arrangements for any meals in sit down restaurants you don't want to miss.

For crowded times, I usually make a plan that tells us what park we're headed to on each day. Then I'll often make either a lunch or a dinner PS somewhere. That gives us a good starting place... my philosophy here is "Now we have a plan. If anyone has a better idea, we'll do that instead." But it does give us direction, and we don't find ourselves out in the cold if the restaurants are booked solid.

The weather can be unpredictable- we pack everything from shorts and tank tops to jeans and sweatshirts for March. If you bring a light jacket along, you'll be able to layer to get you through days with cool mornings and warm afternoons.

Wear your lime green, and say "Hi" if you see us in the parks!

This is our first time during March as well. In doing a good bit of research and looking at historical data and occupancy rates, this is definately one of the busier periods. We're beginning to strategize, i.e. go to the cool rides in the beginning or at the end of the day, do the calmer more reserved tours and locations that don't get overly crowded during the mid-day when things trail off as the youngsters get tired or hungry. Between those times, we're planning for mayhem, not all of it as an experience, but some of it created....ok, ok, most of it created by me.

ROFL!!!!

MrBsMom posted right before me- she's one of the neighbors I was talking about!!! (Our DS's go to the same school, and I had the honor of meeting her for the very first time 2 days ago!!!)

Hi, Kelly!:wave2:

KathyTx - you go girl. I totally agree with your scheduling agenda. As for your personal description tag.....what's the difference between the postman and the mailman? Truthfully, I'd prefer to dance with the feminine variety of these trades, myself. I do like the tequila though, that's my weakness.:hyper:

We go every year in March and sometimes are worse than others. Last year was great - the last full week of March. Lines moved pretty fast. It seems like the years that Easter is in March the crowds are pretty bad. Two years ago, Tomorrowland was so packed around 8:00 p.m. that they opened an exit by BuzzLightyear. We walked in an employee parking lot back to Tony's. Wow that was great! We bypassed all the parade crowd. The weather is so great that time of year that it really doesn't matter how crowded it gets. Soak up some sunshine! Go to Epcot. There is always room to stroll there. Have a great time!

We have gone in March a couple of times and love that time of the year. We would quite often start off in the morning with a light jacket over shorts. The days never got too hot, but were beautiful. We did use Fast pass and made some reservations for our meals.

We did not leave in the middle of the day as the parks are not open really late in the evening. We did a little research on the days on which parks were supposed to be the most crowded and worked our schedule around that.

You may want to check the schedules to see what night they have the parades as they are not every night.

We go during that time every year. GREAT weather....twice we've been and it didn't rain all 5 days. Every year we have gotten to swim. The crowds wern't tooo bad. We got fass-passes for the biggies.

thanks for all the info, I'm not aware of the lime green to identify? Just a shirt or what? I usually go in Jan so it sounds like March's weather is the same. Varies every year. I figured more crowds but for the last 4-5 years I've gone Jan 2, day peak season ends so the longest line is like 20 minutes. I've been spoiled to this luxury. We have made PS reservations for dinner though, Even in the off season it is a good idea. Thanks!

:teeth: Lime green is the official DISboards color! It's just a little cue that helps us ID each other. It's a great help when DISers are setting up meets somewhere- you might not know the face yet, but you can usually spot that lime green!

Lots of folks will tie a bit of lime green ribbon onto their fanny packs or backpacks. We also have a DISshop, run by our very own DISShopKeeper, the delightful and wonderful Dorothy. Among the many treasures there, you can find special stuff for DISers!

You can get fun stuff there, like this bright lime green fanny pack.

Or you can have a button made with your DIS screen name, like this:

If you see someone in the parks with one of these, you'll KNOW they're a DISer. These are only available from our very own DISshop. It's just a fun way to help spot someone you may find you already know from here. :sunny:

We'll also be there that week also :) I usually have a lime green lanyard from DIS-CONI tied to my fanny pack.

We don't have any plans or PS reservations this trip. Something I've decided to do is go through and go to all the attractions we've never been to. Hopefully find more hidden treasures :)

This is our first March trip, I'm expected crowds but hopefully less than we had during Thanksgiving week when we were there.
