Hello :)
Am I crazy to go in June? How bad are the temps and the crowds? I'm sure both are horrid but, that's the week we're planning and just want to know what to expect.
Thanks, Maryann :)

I asked same thing awhile back-

I was told crowds build as June goes on so early June is not as bad as late June.

Temps in high 80's and good chance of at least some rain. Humid.

I got a great rate at Holiday Inn Family Suites for June witht he Entertainment card. $89-99 plus tax a night. Not bad and includes breakfast too. We are staying 7 days onsite (ASMo, Visa deal) and 5 off.

1st week in June not bad at all. We went then in 02 and July in 03. definately never in July again. Being from Texas, the heat didnt bother us at all. I didnt think the crowds were bad either. We will go the 2nd week in June in 04, buying PAP, and will go the first week in June in 05.

The dates we are planning are June 17-24 so, I'm guessing it will start picking up that week huh? we haven't booked yet and I hate to not be able to go due to miserable conditions such as the temp and the crowds it is a good chunk of change to go after all so, definately want to get my money's worth :) the only other week my husband has off is mid-late August and I'm thinking that would be a worse time to go, the last few times we went was during winter months, weather and crowds were acceptable plus
we got away from the bitter cold here (CT.) for a little while. also,
we're planning on doing the dreamaker package through Disney any better suggestions? looks like Pop Century is the choice for hotel. Thanks to all!
Maryann :)

Hi we went this year from June 15 to 21st and it was HOT and CROWDED .. ( to be expected in the summer in DW . ) we had longer wait times then I ever experienced ( 45-60 for Buzz, Space, Spalsh ) but we have been before so we took our time did only what we deemed worth the wait. swam a lot in the afternoon - wore our ponchos a lot too ! afternoon rain showers each day . I have decided to never travel to Disney in the summer again - altho my next trip is during the what is refered to as NJ week ! LOL oh well ( I think my next trip after that is going to be the week after christmas 2005 !! OH well ) Best of Luck , just go into it knowing that you will wait and it wil be hot.. Michelle

We have been to disney in June several times. In general:

The first week of June is not terribly crowded for summertime standards as most of the country is still is school.

The second week will start to become more crowded as more schools are letting out, but still very manageable.

By the third week in June, you will notice it is becoming quite crowded at the world as most people vacation at this time of the year. The peak summer season has begun at disney and will remain through the end of July at this point.

It will be hot, hot, hot at disney in June, period!!! There is no way around it....expect temps in the mid 90's for the most part, humid, and it WILL rain most days! most likely in the afternoons; but the occassional all dayer. But, it will only be worst in July. So, keep this in mind if these are your only two time periods to choose from.

You have to decide if your family is suited to handle these types of conditions while on vacation.

After saying this; don't be too discouraged. With the use of EMH, fast-passes and taking breaks from the midday heat; a june trip to disney is not only manageable, but very magical.

We were there over easter week this past year and found it very manageable!!! Although we have decided not to go that week ever again(too short, not too crowded)! remember: hot and crowded at disneyworld is still better than just about anything else!!!! go and enjoy.

Thanks for all the replies, If I don't go in June I'll be waiting for another year :( I'll just go in June and have my husband take a week in the winter next time!

I believe we went June 10-17 2003 crowds were manageable. Only 2 nights during our stay could we catch spectro. Wish they had made the parade available more nights. Way crowded, encountered several people trying to elbow there way to the front blocking small childrens view. Heat was in low 90's found it tolerable as long as we had plenty of water, cool washclothes in bag of ice. No long waits. Did everything on itinary. Took afternoon break every day. Went to BB at opening on a monday and stayed till 6:00. Good Luck. As above post a hot day in Disney is better than anywhere else

Just thought I would add that we took our first trip to WDW in March of this year. It was during spring break and it was hot (90's) and crowded. But we still had a blast. If the crowds got to be too much we just went to another park or went back to the hotel. So go when you can and work around the other stuff!!!

Thanks so much for asking this question. We are going June 3-11 and our previous trips were in early Dec. and early May, when we experienced very few crowds. I'm trying to remind myself that crowds will be larger, but have a hard time doing this when I'm planning. 20 years ago, I went to WDW with my family during this same time period and I don't remember the heat, but I do remember that it rained every afternoon for a half hour or so. Don't forget your ponchos!

we were there june 10-21, 2003. every day got noticably busier. and it was HOT. we came from suburban chicago, where we had a cool spring, and had quite a shock with the hot weather. the lack of adjustment period made us uncomfortable and cranky :(

also, if memory serves me right, it rained 9 days out of 10 (no kidding.) sometimes it was a light rain, but several times it was a strong rain.

good thing we packed lots of disposable ponchos (2 for a dollar at the dollar store....)

i'm hoping that our upcoming trip will not be as wet, or crowded!

BrerMama--You can expect the Saturday during your visit (June 5) to be very crowded at the MK since that is the big day for Gay Days at the MK.

Kevind65's summary regarding June matches my experience as well.

One good thing about later in June (and during other crowded periods) is the parks will probably stay opened later so its worth taking a mid-day break and the parks may be less crowded near closing time.

Hey guys.. I was getting worried about my upcoming trip May30th - June 5th. I am going with my boyfriend (who only visited when he was 5yrs old - 21 now!) and my sister and her best friend. This week was the only time available since we are in college and its the break between spring semester and summer semester classes. After reading this post however I think I am becoming more confident that it won't be as crazy as I expected - yet. The kids might not be out of school... right?

DisneyGal358--I think the time period you have is a good one. Memorial Day is Monday, May 31, so that Sunday, May 30, may be a little crowded. I'd expect the majority of Memorial Day weekend visitors to be leaving on that Monday, so the parks shouldn't be too crowded from May 31-June 5.

I'd guess that well over half the kids in the US will still be in school during the week you plan to visit.

We normally plan to avoid the WDW park that is noted on the Gay Days Calendar as the park to visit for that day thinking the crowds may be heavier. [THU-AK; FRI-MGM; SAT-MK; SUN-EPCOT] However, our experience and the information I've read from other posters indicate that the crowds in these parks may not be heavily impacted except for the Saturday at the MK .
