We have “almost” decided to make an unexpected trip to Disney World in December. My DH just returned from a 9 month deployment to Bosnia and with Disney’s current Armed Force Salute pricing, it would be crazy for us not to go. We have three children (7, 4 and 1) and our middle child will turn 5 while we are at Disney. I realize that this isn’t necessarily a “last minute” trip, but I usually spend about a year planning our Disney trips, so for me I feel like I am behind the eight ball! We were last at Disney for the millenium celebration in the fall of 2000.

Can all of you with great codes for rental cars please post them. We will definitely need a minivan and I prefer that we pick up the vehicle at the airport.

Also, we are seriously considering the MVMCP for my son’s birthday. We have never been to Disney at Christmas before, so please also list your favorite “do not miss” spots, events and things to see and do at Disney in December.

Thanks!! I'm so excited!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hello,

We did Disney in December 1999, it was our first visit to America and we stayed at the Swan Hotel. A must not miss is breakfast at Spoodles on the Board walk.

Unfortunately, we did not hire a car, so I cannot give any info on that.

Our daughter had as many rides as she wished, as it was very quiet, we arrived December 6th. Queues were very short!! We enjoyed the most, seeing MK dressed up for Christmas, that made our Millenium!

If there is anything you want to ask, just ask.

Have a brilliant time.

Sorry, no help with the rental cars, but the Osborne family lights are the most amazing thing to see! We had to go see them two nights in a row, because we were so in awe.

I also love all the parks at night, when the trees are lit up.

Hi Mommy Poppins - we'll be ther in Dec. celebrating our DD's 5th birthday, too! I hear the Epcot countries have different Santas and the CP is there too. We're also planning on Osborne Lights and MVMCP. Probably some resort hopping to check out the decorations, too. I think Donald's Restaurant at AK has the characters in Christmas outfits (for the character breakfast). Can't wait to hear what others suggest - we've never been in December either. Have fun!

We have gone at least five times during the first few weeks in December and have never had a bad time. The weather is usually wonderful...warm but not HOT! Lines are usually short. The decorations are fantastic....really puts you in the Christmas spirit!

Osborne lights are great (DO NOT MISS THIS), candlelight processional is great (we usually sit outside the theatre as it is a long program), MVMCP is a NOT TO MISS! Best part of this are the many shows, parade and the family photos. Wear your red and green and have copies made for cards or family gifts.

Try to see some of the resorts if you can. The Grand Floridian has a 3-4 story Victorian tree, Wilderness Lodge has a huge themed tree, the Yacht/Beach usually has a Gingerbread House. Almost every UPSCALE resort is worth a trip though! The less expensive resorts do much less.

This year we are going for Halloween due to the Disney Deal, but would prefer to go in December. Can't beat the 7 for 4 deal though! Oh no....we'll have to go to the Food and Wine Festival instead.

So much Christmas....so little time!

A MUST, MUST, MUST do are the Osborne Lights at MGM! They are incredible.

As far as rental cars. We have always had luck getting a decent rate at Dollar & we also rent a minivan. On our last trip at peak time we paid $219.99/wk. & for next April we are at $224.99/wk. Check out Mousesavers.com for codes to use. Also, sometimes with $ you even get a good rate without a code.

Have a great time!! :D
