Disney in December

My family will be visiting Disney Dec 12-18 this year. It is me, my wife, and my 9 year old son. We will be staying at Art of Animation. Are there any other families visiting around that time on here? Anyone else in my son's age range?

We are at AoA with DGD who is almost 8 but we don't arrive till late on 12/17. I wish we were there the same dates as you. DGD doesn't get out of school till the 17th

That would have been great. We are letting our son miss the last week before Christmas. They just do activities that week anyway. No testing or new stuff just before the holiday.

When my dd (now 22) traveled to WDW with us, we hung out at the playground areas for a bit each day. Or the pool. She usually made a friend or two that way. The problem is that most families go to WDW to enjoy the parks, so don't spend a ton of time doing stuff at the resorts. So, they might only be available for very brief periods of time.

Yes, just let him hang at the pool a little while. I bet he'll make friends. There is magic at Disney that can't be explained.

Fun story, this past summer we went to DL. We stayed at Disneyland Resort Hotel and our room was at the end of the hall. There was a separate exterior door that led to a space with 2 doors, our room and one other. Only our 2 room keys opened the outer door. I guess they were made so you could have a huge suite if you rented both room, by leaving the 2 doors open and just locking the outer door to the hall.
We had a pool day and rented a cabana for the day. Another family was next to us with a little girl same age as DGD. They became fast friends. After a bit of chatting we learned they were in the room across the hall from us. The girls didn't want the fun to end when we finished at the pool so we let them play back and forth between the rooms for the whole night. That family was leaving the next day so the girls exchanged addresses and have started to write each other. Only Disney Magic would put the 1 family in our pair of rooms in the cabana next to us on the same day. And have them have a little girl same age

He will probably meet someone. We met some adults from England in 2010 and we still keep in touch and send Christmas gifts.
