Disney in Dec:What to Wear?

OK, I've never been to WDW (or FL) in early Dec. We are going the week after Thanksgiving this year. Can anyone help me plan what clothes I'll need to bring? Will we need shorts? I want to start putting the shorts and t's away but I'm not sure what stuff to keep handy to pack for vacation.

I've been to WDW in late Oct (very warm and muggy) and the first week of March (we did wear shorts and capris) but never in the 'winter' months.

There is no way to know right now. Be prepared for absolutely anything. I've been twice in December - last year and then several years back. The 1st time we went in December we wore sweaters and jeans all day and night and were perfect. Last year, the weather report the day before we left said it was going to be just at 70 degrees for a high every day we were there, so I packed thin long sleeved shirts and jeans, thinking we would buy sweatshirts if we got cold at night. I had cute Christmas color stuff picked out for DD. Boy was I wrong about what I packed. The weather report was right for the 1st day we were there, but then they had an unexpected heat wave with record or near record highs everyday. It was between 80-85 degrees the rest of the week. We all had to buy T-shirts for the week, and we all wished we had shorts. It didn't matter much for DD because the only thing she wanted to wear the entire week was her Cinderella dress anyway. People that were there the week before we got there said it was freezing and they were wearing their coats. You just never know what you are going to get.

We were there the 3rd wk in Dec last year. DH, DS and I wore shorts and t-shirts the whole time. I had a light cardigan sweat to wear in the mornings and at the restaurants. DD 10 gets cold all the time, she wore jeans, t-shirts, and a heavy sweater/sweatshirt the whole time. We did pack light rain jackets but only needed them one day.....and on splash mtn!

It's probably best to be prepared for any type of weather. It's usually upper 60's/low 70's during the day and can get quite cool at night. I would pack a couple of shorts and t-shirts and bring long pants and sweat shirts/light jackets.

Bring clothing to dress in layers. Mornings and evening can be cool to cold. Daytime can be really warm or cool. I'll be there the same week and plan to bring a couple of pair of jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, fleece jacket and hat & gloves (just in case). I'll also bring some shorts, just in case.

Layers are definitely the way to go! I've been several times in the 1st & 2nd week in December, and the temps have been all over. I think for the most part I've been able to wear shorts during the day, but definitely a sweatshirt in the evenings. My legs usually don't get cold even if I have a sweatshirt on, but if you're going to be sitting around waiting for say, Fantasmic or Illuminations to start, it can get chilly. I will say that I've never worn gloves or a winter hat while at WDW but there's a 1st time for everything!

Layers. We wore pants all day. We had tshirts, under sweatshirts. We also brought coats for MVMCP.

I have been to WDW twice during December and brought a variety of clothes just so that I am prepared. I suggest you pack a little bit of everything. 1 pair of shorts, couple of t-shirts, 1 pair of long pants, 1 long-sleeve shirt, 1 sweatshirt or sweat jacket, 1 wind-resistant, medium weight jacket, and 1 poncho. I have also packed a scarf and gloves. Hope this helps. Have a great time!

It's seven of us.

I'm trying to decide what to bring for an early December trip too. I'm packing solo since it's a surprise trip. I'm bringing sweat pants, shorts, capris, jeans, leggings, t- shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweat shirts, sweaters and coats. Last time we went in February and I didn't bring enough long pants. I did have sweaters and coats, though. This time I want us to be prepared to have a good time without freezing or overheating.

I'm trying to start thinking about what to put in for us too....I'm worried that we will get there and not have what we need, I guess it's better to take a little of everything than leave something out!!

We went T-day week of last year. I found it to be cold but then 90 some degree weather doesn't faze me at all. I found for myself, I wore pants all the time with a t-shirt with a sweatshirt over it for the mornings and nights.

Pack a little of everything and if you run out, head to the laundry. While you are doing the laundry, get yourself some kind of treat....drink, ice cream sundae, whatever tickles your fancy while you enjoy the calm outside of the parks.

Anything above 55 degrees at home and we wear shorts. My kids went to the bus stop in shorts two mornings this week and it was in the high 40's - they weren't complaining. We will have the long pants/shirts that we leave Ohio in the day after Thanksgiviing. The rest of our clothes will be shorts, capris, t-shirts and a lightweight jacket for morning/evening (except for dh who doesn't wear shorts even when it's 95 degrees out). My dd25 went the same week 2 years ago and wore shorts and spaghetti strap tops the entire trip. We will have swimsuits for swimming as well.

It's 55 out here right now and feels quite comfortable in shorts.

I'm from Florida (Miami) and winters here are very unpredictable. Last year we had a week in December where it was in the high 40's during the day and high 30's at night. That only lasted a week, and then the next week was mid 70's during the day and 60's at night. You never know what you are going get weather-wise in Florida. I would bring a little of everything, and understand that even though it is Florida it can get cold if you come on a week like last year. We are also going in December...for my Birthday!!!
