Disney in August?

Hi Everyone! I'm a long time Disney fan, but I've never been there in the summer. I see that the nightly rates for camping drop during August, but the hotel nights don't. So my 2 questions are:
1) Is the weather as hot as I've heard in August?
2) Are the line-ups long in August?
Any info you can give me is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheryl

We went this last Aug - we had never been in Summer either but with DS in high school we just couldn't make the late fall trip.

I was very afraid of the summer because of what everyone said "TOOOOOO HOT, TOOOOO CROWDED, TOOOOO everything" - well we did it and yes it was hot, yes it was crowded, and yes it rained almost every day - but we enjoyed ourselves. We are very laid back so we just rolled with whatever happened. We went early, came back to the camper for lunch then back to the park in the late afternoon, used fast pass, stayed late at night (which was a 1st for us - no early closing). We even had a stay at PO during one of the hurricanes.

We did everything we wanted to do and had a very good time - I would do the summer trip again. Just remember to relax - your on VACATION! :cool1:

Have fun,

I have gone a couple of times in Aug and am planning a trip this Aug. The later in the month the less thecrowds. Yes after the 15th the parks do start to close early but we never had any problem with it. The last two times we went it was hotter in Jersey than it was in Florida.

Almost all of the schools on the West coast of Florida now start back in early August. For the past few years, we have made a weekend trip to Ft. Wilderness in mid to late August, as a sort of end of Summer trip. It is hot then, but it is a great time to go. We have Florida resident passes that are blacked out until mid to late August. We usually try to go the first weekend that we can. Usually, the crowds are light. It is also a great time of year to do the water parks. The days are long, and the water parks stay open later. There is no bad time to go to Ft. Wilderness.

This is our first trip to Disney. We are going in August too. My DS (12) will just be coming from 9 days of Boy Scout camp, but he wants to camp again.

I figure if i can stand 3 days in the "sticks", I can save $300 to spend on our Disney Cruise.

Perhaps, we can meet up if you go in August and camp at Fort Wilderness.

we loved our August FW camping trip. crowds thinned out that last week in August. the heat and humidity was there, but was managable as long as you have some sort of AC in your camper. (couldn't hack sleeping in that humidity without one.) We did get a few scarry storms - never had to evacuate.

would i go again and camp at FW in August....you bet!!!!!

This year will be our 4th August trip. We did one late July. We love it. DH and I both teach so summer really is the only time we can go. We have always had a great time. Just plan our days around the heat. We get out early. Avoid late afternoon in the parks. We're always in the pool by then. Go back to the parks at night.

We done Aug on several trips now.

Yes it is hot, yes it does rain, Yes it is fun :cool1:

Hit parks early in the day. Head back to cabins around 2, rest, swim, Have dinner, then back to parks at night.

Always was able to see and do what I wanted. Great time to go.
While crowds are large, everything is open late
