Disney Imagineers - Can you meet them?

Just wondering if they do any tours where you can meet Disney's Imagineers. My 10 year old DS has his sights set on becoming an engineer and designing theme park rides. Does anyone know if there is anyone he could write to, to get information about what an Imagineer does, what qualifications they need and possibly how they got their start?

I ran into a couple of Imagineers at the lobby bar at the Yacht Club when I was there in December. They told me that the Imagineers always stay there when they are in town, and can usually be found drinking at the lobby bar. It was actually pretty neat to talk to them. One of them helped create the scenery for Splash Mountain (my favorite ride). I talked to them about the new drop features and special affects in Tower of Terror, and it was interesting to see how much more attentive they got to the conversation when I mentioned it.

Regretably there are no imagineering tours....but as just mentioned you are likely to see them around the parks and resorts....as far as writing goes....I think you son would get a nice response from:

Disney does offer a Lunch with an Animator over at MGM Studios, which is not quite the same thing, but pretty cool anyway. It's offered at the Brown Derby on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:30am, lasts for an hour and a half, and you get a one on one lunch with an animator. At the end of lunch the animator will sign a special keepsake plate for you. Cost is $60.99
