I'm just wondering how many fellow disers dream is to be a disney Imagineer?
My dream is to be a graphic designer for disney imagineering.

I wish I was one also. Don't they make and think ideas for rides? :dance3:

YEah, and a lot more! They can do almost anything for disney!!!! I checked on the website to see if there are any jobs open.:P

To give ya alittle history on Disney Imagineering- Heres alittle piece from Imagineering-A Behind the Dreams Lookk at making the magic real

To Imagineer

You won't find it in the dictionary. But any Imagineer can tell you the word is both a verb and a noun. To imagineer. To be an Imagineer. Like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Imagineering has become purely a Disney word. The name conbmines imagination with engineering to describe both what we do and who we are. Creating a name for a group whose only job is to come up with ideas to build on and then build those ideas really took some Imagineering. but that is what Walt Disney was all about. Walt Dseriously began to entertain the speark of an idea for a new kind of themed park in 1951 when he and movie art directer Harper Goff, began work on its first concept sketches. Soon afterwards, he hand-picked a small group of movie makers from his studio asking them to dedicate themeselves to the design and development of this new and unique family fun park. Little did he know then that this small group would soon grow to become a major division of his company. But then again, maybe he did know. Until this time, Walt knew little on the three-dimensional side of the entertainment fence, where fairs, amusement parks and the like could be found. But he did know movies and television. Driven by the desire to take his passion for storytelling far beyond the confines of two-dimensions he landed on the idea that visitors who stepped in to this new park should feel as though they stepped into a movie. Every inch of the place should be part of a story, as in a movie or television show. This is exactly why he enlisted the talents of a select handful of his studio people, setting them up in "secret" little offices around the lot. These were story people and visual people, animators, directors, writers, artists and set designers, a one of a kind group who could set a scene and compose a breathtaking vista. These were the people who made magic on Disney film and now they were being asked to make magic on Disney land. They began by making movies, but wound up making history.

Imagineers are the Dreamers and Doers of the Walt Disney Company their projects include Disneyland Resort, WDW Resort, Disneyland Paris Resort, ABC Studios in Time Square, Tokoyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland and the World of Disney Stores. Imagineering has a diverse collection of architects, engineers, artists, support staff members, writers, researchers, custodians, schedulers, estimators, machinists, financiers, modle-makers, landscape designers, special effects and lighting designers, sound technicians, producers, carpenters, accountants, filmmakers, graphic designers and so on and so forth. :) For all those who don't know what Imagineering is.

Did you ge that from a book about imagineering? I saw something that looked exactly like that in a book.

The first really long paragraph is from an Imagineering book, the opening of it. The blue Imagineering book with soceror mickey on it, Disney Imagineering- A look behiind the magic, which I said it was from. The second paragraph is not from the book.

Since WDW has so many beautiful hotels, I want to Design a Disneyland hotel and park. I have this program on my computer to build houses so I have it all planned out. My hotel idea is to build another Disneyland castle a little larger then Sleeping beauty's castle, and build rooms inside it. I got my idea from Disneyland Paris and WDW.
Inside the WDW castle there is an apartment that Walt and his family were going to move in but he died before it was finished. The WDW telephone operators used that room for a while back in the day.
In DLP, a few miles away there is a castle hotel that is beautiful, I believe Disneyland own it since you can find that same castle on the DLP site.
For my Park idea I would love to build a park right inbetween DL and WDW, that way everyone can get to a park. I would love to take my hotel idea to that park as well. I have a few ride ideas :).

Great Idea! Perfect Location? Kansas, there is so much free land out here.

lol I'm doing it on July 19th at 12pm :), I'll tell you how it is! I'm also very determined to be a Disney Imagineer! (whats better than combining your two passions, Disney and Art than in your future job?) I have read a whole bunch of Disney Imagineering books, Just bought my copy of the Imagineering Field Guide to Epcot! Also during this disney trip I am doing a tour called around the world on a segway! So I'm excited. :cool1:

Yeah! you get to ride a segway around the world showcase, while your on a tour learning about each country! :-) Can't wait. Next tour I do next trip has to be Keys to the Kingdom tour at Magic Kingdom, but I know way too much about every detail at Magic Kingdom. :-) lol. I could probably write a book right here and now.

Oh and just to give you an idea of how obsessed I am about disney in 8th grade I put on an hour and 10 minute presentation about walt disney world, and this year I did a 30 minute video project about disney imagineering. Yep. I'm obsessed. I always seem to incoroporate disney into my projects.
