Anyone been there? Was it work it? We are thinking of paying a visit on our upcoming trip to CA. We will be in Hollywood around that time.
I heard you can buy rare Disney movies. Wondering if I can get Beauty & the Beast? What is the ice-cream shop like? Will the kids enjoy it?

I think it is worth it. It is a lot of fun, but it is a bit crowded and loud (though not extremely loud). It occupies the left side of what used to be the Disney Store. What was the Disney Store is basically cut in half with the left being the ice cream parlor and the right a small version of a Disney Store. They do sell a lot of things tied to whatever movie is playing at the El Capitan. However, with regards to movies, I have only seen the same ones that are being offered in stores now.

I think it is more worth it because of the location, it sits across the street from Mann's Chinese Theater, right near the Hollywood and Highland complex/mall (home of the new Kodak theater home of the Oscars), and sits right on the Walk of Fame.

The El Capitan is worth seeing a movie at the theater looks simple but WOW! It is beautiful inside and is often decorated for the Disney movie showing (I personally believe POTC3 was the Best!) and sometimes has extra sideshows with the movie. It is a classic Hollywood theater.

I have been into the shop, they have cute stuff but most is available at the parks though rarely you do see some harder to find items. I have wanted to do the ice cream shop for a while but still haven't, but one day.

I think you will find it fun and like I said with the location it would be silly to miss!

The El Capitan is a wonderful theatre. Even if you don't have tickets, take a look around outside. The Disney Soda Shop is a nice place too. It's a small, old fashioned ice-cream parlor/shop. They have malts, sundaes, and shakes. There is a lot of Disney Merchandice there, some you can buy at the parks, others you can't. If your kids are into pin trading, have them bring pins and see if they have any disney pins on sale. Have an awesome trip :thumbsup2

I've been to the Soda Fountain a couple times. The ice cream is great and they have a good selection of sundaes and such. They also have a very limited menu of sandwiches and things. The store is fun, but small.

While you're over that way, go across the street to the Hollywood & Highland complex and visit Beard Papa's for fantastic little cream puffs. Wow, they're tasty!!

Yes, it's worth it. Be sure to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame stars right outside.
