Been to Disneyland several times before and always stayed in a good neighbor hotel. Twice now I have stayed at Ramada Inn and loved both times. Last trip was at the Carosuel and the room was way to small. Well I am looking at going over Christmas and the wife really wants to stay at a Disney Hotel. I am having trouble coming to terms with the cost.
Grand Californian is $ 3,977
Disneyland Hotel is $ 3,172
Paradise Pier is $ 2,917
Ramada Inn is $ 1,852
Now for the $1100 difference we could stay several extra days.
Been to Disney World before and I see the value of staying on property there but cannot phatom the value here.
Can somebody give me some insight on these hotels or what "Magical" extras come with them that are not posted.

We are a family of 8 and to stay at DLR is would be $6,988 and a good-neighbor hotel 2,684, tickets included on both. So I could go 2.5 times for the price to stay at DLR. Not reasonable for us, I would rather go 2 times and have extra money left over.

, the big hot tub, and the short walk to DCA and Disneyland.
