Hi all,

Most of us here are Disney fans. I have a bucket list where I want to stay at every Walt Disney World and Disneyland Hotels.

My wife and I are doing a quick 4 nighter in July. This will be our first trip in the summer.

I was thinking of staying at the Port Orleans - French Quarter. I have never stayed there before. And this will cross a hotel off my bucket list.

My concerns are:

Condition of the rooms (Have they been done over?)
Only 1 swimming pool (Why haven't they changed this)?

Should I stay at Port Orleans - FQ or go to the Caribbean Beach where there are plenty of pools (lots of quiet pools).

BTW - There are the hotels left on my "bucket" list:

All Star Movies
Port Orlean's - French Quarter
Boardwalk Inn
Dolphin
Yacht Club
All of the Villa Resorts
Paradise Pier Hotel (DL)

Any suggestions would be great!

I have the same goal as you, my friend!

Depending on when you are going in July, it might be a good opportunity to knock off BW or YC since they are in a value season at the end of the month and the discounts can be good. (sometimes 30% to 40%)

Still more $$ than a Mod. Just a thought.

POFQ is a great resort. I believe all the rooms are finished but I'm sure the folks on that thread could verify it for sure.

I do think it is a downside to just one pool though. Especially in the summer!

Enjoy!

POFQ renovations were completed in 2010, so pretty fresh! :thumbsup2
CBR was in 2008 I believe, we stayed there in 2011 and the room was in good condition.

We have not stayed at POFQ but I was under the impression that they only have the one pool, and from the looks of it, it appears to be very geared towards kids, IMO.

POFQ is one of my very favorite Disney Resorts. It's size makes it very intimate and manageable. I never missed having a quiet pool. It's food court is the only thing that is lacking, but the walk over to Riverside was very pleasant.

My bucket hotel is the Contemporary.

We really liked POFQ. It's small, intimate feel was very relaxing after a long, summer day at the parks. I would speculate due to it's small size in comparison to the other resorts is why it only has one pool. It is geared to kids, so you may wish there was a quiet pool. The pool is pretty good sized and while we were there, most of the kids gravitated to the side that had the slide which left the other side primarily to adults. By staying at POFQ, you can take the short walk (10 min) or ride the boat over to POR (since they're sister resorts) to use their quiet pool. As another poster mentioned, the rooms were just recently renovated, so they should be in nice condition. I don't think you'll be disappointed with POFQ.

The POFQ rooms are very nice. Was gutted and everything is brand new. Queen Beds as well. CBR rooms still have full beds. They had a soft refirb back in 2008, not the complete reno FQ just got.

If you want quiet pools, I'd go to POR-Riverside. They are in the midst of their renos, and should be finished by summer I think. We had a new room last Aug, and it was very nice. In the Mansion section. We were next to the quiet pool. I like having the option of the quiet pools, when the main pool gets too crowded, esp in August!
