Disney Honeymoon?

I am not going to be able to have my fantasy Disney wedding. It is jsut too expensive and we want to invite too many people. I was thinking that a good compromise would be a Disney honeymoon. At first my DF was completely against it, but he seems to be coming around. However, his last big argument is that Disney is not special! Can you believe that? LOL. He has not yet discovered the magic of Disney, but I am trying to convert him. He thinks that special is soemthing that is completely new. I said that we have never stayed on property together so that would new, but he didnt buy that! LOL. I might convince by adding some days at the beach before and a few nights in Savannah or another city in the south that we have never been to. But that means more money which we dont have. Do you guys have any suggestions for me on how to open his eyes to the magic of Disney? Any and all suggestions are welcome! Sorry for the post being so long! TIA!

I too had to convince my DH to go to disney on our honeymoon. He had never been there. I told him "where else can you go around the world and to some lands that don't even exist!"....he cracked up. And I also explained to him we could do a lot more there with the small budget we had because they pick you up at the airport, and because we had free dining at the time . OOOO free dining. Our wedding is in May, but we have to put off our honeymoon anyway because of my sister's high school graduation. Maybe I could make a chart comparing the cost of a Disney trip with a Hawaii trip or Caribbean trip. LOL. That would show him!

DF didn't want a disneymoon at the world, b/c he feels as though he can't relax, b/c there is just so much to do, so we compromised on a disney cruise.

The thing with the Disney cruises is that they are so expensive. Were you able to find a deal?

it's hard to get someone to experience the magic when their hearts just aren't in it- maybe if he felt more involved in the planning of everything- booking to ADRs, room, tickets to certain events, umm- special things that maybe just he would bemore interested in, i.i:: ESPN club on the boardwalk- maybe he can get more excited as it gets closer!!

My DF wasn't thrilled about a disney honeymoon at first but I just kept talking about it until he got sick of hearing it...lol. Then I went online and showed him all the cool things we could do. He thought disney was just for kids (he has never been). I had show him otherwise. Bookmark some fun things that he would enjoy and show him some of the 'romantic' side of disney. There are some really unique things to do like fireworks cruises and safaris...find some things that would interest him and really play it up. We comprimised too...and are spending 5 nights of our honeymoon in Disney and 2 nights in Savannah. Good Luck!!

You could do the land/cruise deal. Spend three nights at sea and 4 nights at the world (or vice versa). I know the cruise seems like a lot of money, but you don't have to pay for food and some drinks. Also, they have lots of activities on board and transportation to a from the dock. The only money you need on board is for drinks (alcoholic and carbonated) and for things like gambling or shopping.

We are taking a Disney Honeymoon and my DF was somewhat like yours but we have agreed to a few things...

We are going to do a few days at the beach after Disney
We are going to do different things than in the past outside of the parks (Kennedy Space Center, Airboats to look at gators, pool day, Carriage ride)
We got a great deal before dining that made it less then free dining
We registered with Disney for our honeymoon so that will either take some of the cost away from us or let us do things that we may not be able to afford otherwise.

Thanks for all the great ideas! I didnt know that you didnt have to pay for food and drinks on the cruises. That makes the price seem more reasonable. I will try some of these ideas of him andlet you know how it goes!

When I married my first wife I took her to disney and I could not afford it, however it was the best honeymoon I could ask for. I took her back for our 5th anniversary, again it was worth it. My wife passed away, and now my fiancée are planning our honeynoon well in disney!!! Is it worth it YES, also if you do decide to go please tell disney as you are booking your reservation that it is your honeymoon, The treatment you get is wonderful...

Here's a bit of my experience...maybe it will help you.

I'd only been to WDW once, when I was 9. Didn't have the most fun because Space Mountain and Splash Mountain were both closed (and forget about all the newer rides like ToT and the like). Point is, didn't have the greatest time. Enjoyed the beach better.

DF is in LOVE with WDW. Seriously. He's been over 20 times. He had suggested a Disneymoon and I was like, "No way. Let's do something tropical." Then I went to WDW with him and experienced the magic through his eyes.

And now, here I am trying to plan a WDW wedding, not even just a honeymoon. I have a feeling that with a little bit of pixie dust you'll be able to convince him.

That sounds exactly like DF and me. I am the one who has been 7 plus times and he only ever went for day trips when he was young. I LOVE it and would rather go there than anywhere else, but he wants a tropical vacation. I want him to see the magic through my eyese because I know that he will have a good time if he does.

Everyone is sooo nice and happy there!! I agree with some other posts, try to arrange a compromise.
