Has anyone used this? I was thinking about doing one but don't know much about it. If you do a honeymoon registry will people give you less gifts, cash, etc? Any info will be appreciated. Thank You!
We just used ours for our DFTW & Disneyland honeymoon. It's basically a gift card that multiple people can add to. Even though they have an option to give you just money on the card or designate money for a dinner, tour, boat ride, etc you can use the money however you wish. We used ours at DisneyWorld and Disneyland and it worked everywhere! It was great!!!
My only complaint is that they close your account 5 days before your trip and no one can add funds after that. We had some wedding guests who wanted to add to it but could not at that late date.
I read about this in our DVC news letter. We thought about it...then decided against it. Only because we can do the same thing by opening a gift account at our bank and having people deposit their gifts there. Then we can use the money for whatever we like, not just Disney. We are planning a "6-month anniversary/extended honeymoon" cruise through Italy and Dubai...so since this obviously can't be done on DCL, we need to use some of our monetary gifts towards this. If we use the Disney Honeymoon Registry we wouldn't be able to do that. I guess it just depends on what your plans are and what you will need money for
Unfortunately, you can't use the registry for any DFTW bills - only things you buy once you're at WDW, like food, souvenirs, paying your hotel bill, etc. Not sure how it works if you've booked and paid for a package rather than room-only reservations.
I'm also not sure about the answer to your other question. There was a big thread about the registry when it was first announced - maybe a search will turn up your answer?
We're actually using it for our first shower on Sunday. Since we moved the wedding up, we were worried about paying for our honeymoon. So our friends are throwing us a Disneymoon shower.
The only bad thing about it is that many people are telling me that they'd rather give us the money at the shower than pay it online because it's too confusing for them. So, three days before the shower, we don't have any money on the registry online.
Had I to do it over again, I wouldn't have registered. But...it is Disney so I would have probably registered anyway to see what it was about.
Thanks everyone for your input. I have really been thinking about it and have decided not to register. We are doing other things besides Disney on our honeymoon and we would rather have the cash. It is a nice idea though if you are doing everything in Disney. Thanks again!
