So this is a spin-off of another thread. The question being weather you like the Sorcerers Hat in DHS. Feel Free to post you opinion on it. (in fact please do)

I do not like the hat. I wouldn't mind if it was in a different place in the park, but now it blocks the view of the GMR. Thats my opinion

Like the hat, feel like it captures the spirit of what will always be to me MGM. It's location is kind of awkward with the theming, but there really isn't a lot of places to put it (Animation Courtyard seems to small and cramped to me) so I guess we'll have to make due.

I hate the hat...the whole set up to me has seemed like this giant hat fell out of the sky right in front of the Chinese Theater.

One of the options needed to be "I don't mind the hat...but I HATE the location"

Although I voted "dislike" that really doesn't tell the story. I really do like the hat itself, its just where they put it that I don't like.

I like it but agree I don't like WHERE it is. When they set up the stage for various events it just seems to be in the way. Maybe it should be to the left(or right) when you go thru the turnstyle. It would be the 1st thing you see but not block the view of Hollywood Blvd. I think it looks like an afterthought. Like they just plopped it down where it fit!

you know, with all the imagineers that work on these projects, you would think one of them would come up with a park design that doesn't involve a main "street, boulevard, way, trail" which terminates at an icon.

I think that the hat should stay....it is the iconic image of DHS. You think of MK and there is the castle, you think of EPCOT and there is the golf ball, you think of AK and there is the tree of life, the first thing you see and think of is the hat at DHS. I would be very disappointed and sad in Disney if they moved the hat. Don't fix it if it's not broken! :smickey:

first off, http://www.yesterland.com/removehat.html

Second, The hat was not there for the Majority of MGM/DHS's Life and it got along just fine.

I love the hat. I think it looks beautiful at night. I don't mind it's location at all. I think it adds a lot to the park and creates a nice central location. Just my opinion. :goodvibes

Ok, Here is my question for you then. Have you ever been to DHS before the hat was put in? If so do you remember it? If Not, I do not believe you opinion is valid as you have not seen and clearly remember both sides.

Just my opinion.

Or you can just get a picture of it without the hat and look at it like it was. :confused3

Yes, three times before the hat.
1. 1989 senior class trip
2. 1995 honeymoon
3. 2000 family vacation

Went again in 2003 and have been doing a week-10 days in WDW every year since then. I still love the hat. :goodvibes

That's fine. I was just thinking about that after i read your OP and realized that the poll may be thrown off by people who have never been when the hat didn't exist.

The hat was built for a park anniversary and was only supposed to stand for a year or so. Later the decision was made that, like "magic" on the geodesic ball at Epcot, it was so expensive to put up that it should stay. However, it's completely out of scale for its location, it spoils the illusion of an old Hollywood street, and it blocks the view of the "weenie"--the Chinese theater--that was supposed to be the climax of the view down the street. Which is a fancy way to say: the suits kept it there to save money but it sucks.
