Disney Holiday Firsts At Last! - Final Thoughts Finally!

Love seeing all of your AoA pictures...and especially the Lion King... I haven't seen any of those before so its nice to see that section of AoA getting some love...;) Did you have a favorite/preference where you'd want to stay if you stayed there?

Seeing all those Cars pictures has me really jonesing to go to DLR and see the new Carsland... have read really great stuff about it... Ahhhh... not next year... but maybe 2014... maybe Grand Canyon to DL roadtrip...:scratchin

Anyway I'm glad to hear your breakfast was good... & I know it made your journey over to TSM a lot easier than if you had been at the entrance to the Studios... (you and your girls didn't have to get involved in the running of the TSM lunacy as much ... and I'm sure that was better for all of you considering the being under the weather...

Looking forward to reading about the GMR...popcorn::

(It's ironic... DS having a playdate with twin boys from his class... they love Disney and were there last summer but I found out driving them home...they both took turns being sick there... in fact one of them ONLY made it to their AK day...:sad1: Luckily it's his favorite park...)

We loved the Lion King section and even before seeing it we knew that it was where we wanted to stay when we go back. The theming is just so cool and although it doesn't have a pool it has one on either side of it.

Grand Canyon and DLR would be a cool combo - and 2014 would give enough time for the crowds there to finish dying down. We may do the same as far as a 2014 DLR trip. Either that or a Disney Alaskan Cruise :thumbsup2

Oh yes, it was MUCH easier getting to TSM from there, we strolled along the back side of the shops and came out into the hub in front of the hat and went right across and down to the FP bay and queue. No pushing or grumbling or anything.

GMR pictures coming up - all taken by Bean again :goodvibes

Yes, even though we had illness it only really affected us on our AK/MVMCP day. And Bean made up for the loss of AK time on her daddy/daughter day and we all got a lot more MK fun on our last day so it all worked out. It would be such a bummer to miss so much of the parks after all the planning and expense. Overall I still think it was a pretty successful trip.

We made our way out of TSM and had meant to stop here next to see what Jack Sparrow was up to.
WDW-2012-00120.JPG

Unfortunately it didn't open until 11am so at Bean's suggestion we headed around the corner to the Great Movie Ride. Now I know there are two camps on this one, but my family really enjoys it. It is corny and some say outdated, but we love taking that slow ride down memory lane.

We made their way through the entrance queue of costumes. Again I let Bean do the camera work. She did good capturing them with the flash without glare by angling the shot - that's my girl!

WDW-2012-00124.JPG

WDW-2012-00125.JPG

WDW-2012-00126.JPG

We came in to the big screen and caught most of it. Then we moved on to the ride itself. I had Bean put it on the action setting so the flash wouldn't go off and told her just to shoot as much as she wanted.

Here we go!

Mary and Bert making mischief on the rooftops
WDW-2012-00128.JPG

We were on the 'gangster' track and were soon taken hostage by a gangster mol
WDW-2012-00129.JPG

We mosied on to the western area and found Clint and John
WDW-2012-00131.JPG

WDW-2012-00132.JPG

I was very impressed by her shot of Clint. I was never able to capture him given the low light on the porch where they have him standing.

We came into the western town and went thru the shootout
WDW-2012-00133.JPG

WDW-2012-00134.JPG

Does anyone know why they stopped having the bank catch on fire? I waited for it but it never lit up.

Next was a trip to space on the Nostromo. Bean got a shot of the Alien!
WDW-2012-00135.JPG

Then our adventure took us to lost treasures and Indiana Jones
WDW-2012-00136.JPG

Why did it have to be snakes?
WDW-2012-00137.JPG

We made it to the giant jewel and the mol couldn't resist

WDW-2012-00141.JPG

Beyond them we find Cheetah and Jane

WDW-2012-00156.JPG

It was cool to see it redone and I'm glad I rode it, but motion sims make we queasy if I ride them too many times so I'm glad the ladies were happy with just one ride. Oh, the ride was basically walk-on.

The ladies wanted to go to Muppets 3-D but it was almost time for our TSM FPs Bean took the obligatory fountain shot along with what looks to be an ice cream sundae before we moved on

WDW-2012-00157.JPG

WDW-2012-00158.JPG

Since Bean got such great shots of the queue we only took one more - I wanted a pic of the balsawood airplane
WDW-2012-00159.JPG

Another fun ride and this time Bean came back with a vengeance - beating everyone else in the car with a score of around 175,000.

We headed out and checked times for events and saw that the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular was about to start. I stopped off to take a pic of the DHS sign in the hub
WDW-2012-00160.JPG

before catching up to the fam as they entered
WDW-2012-00161.JPG

Now I must warn you, this is one of them that I really wanted to capture the action of. Last time I was part of the extras so I missed much of the show. So I took a LOT of pictures which will stretch across several posts. We were at the top of the stadium so I switched to my faster lens with a better zoom.

We settled in and soon enough Indy was crashing in thru the roof

Up he goes...

We love the Great Movie ride, corny and all. I love watching all the movie clips while waiting in line and I love the movies at the end.

Bean got some great shots :thumbsup2

I never noticed that Ice Cream. Is that outside of TSM?

Great shots of Indy. We love that show too :thumbsup2

Glad to hear you like it too. And yes, love the movies at the beginning and end too. I'm a big fan of movie montages.

Bean is a natural for sure. And the ice cream is to the right of the entrance queue for the Muppets.

More shots of Indy to come!

When we last left Indy he had angered the gods and triggered their giant rolling ball of death - run Indy!

Thanks for sharing the Indy Adventures! Last time we went (which was my youngest 2 sons' first visit) they had to cut the Adventure short due to lightening and storm threat. I have to say tho that that your Indiana Jones is much more appealing than the one we had ;)

No problem! More pictures to come :-] And we had a technical malfunction the first time we saw the stunt spectacular and they completely cut the airplane scene at the end so I know what you mean with that.

I think that Indy was the same one we saw in 2011 - got a picture with him.

Merry Christmas

Thank you Jordan - Merry Christmas to you too!

Going through your indy pics, I can totally hear the music from the show :cool1:

Merry Christmas :goodvibes

way to come back on TSM cant let the kids beat you just yet...but nice on giving hope then taking it way in the bonus scene.
:thumbsup2

Another unabashed fan of the GMR...:thumbsup2 get the chills from the montage at the end...

(although I'm starting to think the cowboy track is just a rumor... have never gotten it...:confused3)

Haven't done Indy show recently but have always enjoyed it... but I love the Indy films... well I really loved 1 & 3, liked 2 & on the fence about 4 ... not sure how I felt about the Alien tie in but I did like that he got back with Marion and that they had had a son together...

Cool, glad it is bringing back the vibe of it. Thank you for the Merry Christmas, hope yours was a good one.

Well to be fair I beat her the first time but she totally got me the second time. Yanking that thing is tiring :rotfl2:

Yes, the movies are great at the beginning and end. I've always been a fan of clip reels like that. And I've seen the cowboy track once out of the 5 times I've rode it. And this time I think they had that track shut down because we came into the movie reel at the end and we were on the right side. The car that would be on the left side was already sitting there emply and stopped.

I'm in the same boat with Indy - love 1 & 3, don't like 2 & 4. I heard that Lucas really pushed the alien angle and wouldn't let go on it. I hated it and the goofy CGI grapic actions scenes. The whole point of the series is live action stunts. That whole chase thru the jungle with people swinging around like monkeys turned my stomach. Having Marian in there was the only saving grace.

Sorry Double post...

No worries, I've done that more than once myself.

We return now to our intrepid adventurers as they try to escape the evil clutches of some Egyptian baddies by taking to the rooftops!

Marian is up the ladder with Indy close behind. Unfortunately there is a baddie nipping at his heels

When we left off the truck had just rolled into view, supposedly with Marian on board. Unfortunately due to our seating we have a bit of an obstructed view thanks to a support column

Here comes the big ‘kaboom!’

They put out the raging inferno and bring out the extras. An extra is chosen “at random” to show some hand to hand techniques. The volunteer jumps right into some Karate Kid moves while facing the big German

The director decided that maybe Marian’s character is more his size. He immediately move in close for a photo op, supposedly taken by his mom.

They then set him up for some fake punches

When we went in 2011 and Roxy helped me get picked as an extra I was chosen in the same group with the stuntman and knew who he was from having seen the show in 2008. It was cool to see him ham it up and get beat up right in front of me.

Next up we’ll do the grand finale!

I FINALLY finished editing all of my photopass pics. I've placed the order for the download, just waiting for the e-mail with the link! :thumbsup2

More great Indy shots

I love the stuntman extra part. I like to look around and look for guests who have not seen the show before, so don't realize it is a set up and see their expressions :rotfl:
