My fiancée and I just got finished vacationing at Disney World. We were there from the 1st to the 8th and this was our third year in a row going to Disney in the fall. This year was actually the latest we have went into the season and the amount of stuff we seen was unbelievable, and unfortunately I think alcohol being served is to blame for a good portion of it. The other is the class level, which has really gone down. It almost seemed like some people in the parks won a trip to Disney based on their horrible behavior.
I’ll start with the first thing we witnessed. My fiancée and I needed something quick to do before our next fast past so we decided to get in the 20 minute line for the barnstormer. While in line there is a mom and younger son also in line. Then the dad comes over with another son looking pissed off. The son then starts scratching his stomach and chest fully lifting his shirt all the way up. Then they have a flat out argument in line. The dad and older son want to ride pirates. The mom wants to do mine train. They start arguing and the older son says “this vacation sucks!”. Then during the Christmas party there were two brothers (kids) fighting. The one boy trips the other boy and he takes a bump on the ground. The boy then gets up and punches his brother in the back. The mom kept walking and never knew any of this took place. Another thing that happened in the Magic Kingdom was at Casey’s Corner. I watched one older woman completely knock over another woman’s drink and kept walking. Guests were also ripping their food out of the cast members hands. Also guests didn’t want to clear the walkway after saying excuse me several times. It wasn’t until my fiancée had to yell excuse me before the one family even moved. Many families vacationing think they are the only ones that matter. I feel bad for the cast members.
After the Christmas party we went back to Magic Kingdom one time to watch HEA and never went back during the trip because of the chaos. We had another MK day booked for Saturday and decided we didn’t want to deal with the chaos so we canceled our fast passes and went to Hollywood Studios instead. Thankfully we rode mine train and space mountain during the Christmas party along with BTM, haunted mansion, jungle cruise, it’s a small world, buzz, and the people mover.
Now I’ll discuss the alcohol and why I think it’s becoming a huge problem and why it reminds me of Universal on Halloween Horror Nights. We were waiting to ride ROTR and while waiting in Galaxies Edge some drunk couple had an argument and the woman fell over completely missing the bench. She then kept yelling at her bf that he “was an *******” and she wanted to go home. I also noticed that day many guests drinking beers around galaxies edge, many were mothers who paid no attention to what their kids were doing. Another guy was drunk in the queue for ROTR and kept yelling “this is the way!”. We get it you watch the Mandalorian. Then another guy was drunk and threw up after riding Star Tours.
My concern is that I don’t want Disney to start bringing in the wrong crowd. I kept thinking about Pete talking about “Daddy getting his buzz on” in the podcast, and while I thought he was going too far at the time, I see exactly where he was coming from. I like a drink every once and awhile myself and think that it’s great that drinks are offered. My fiancée and I ate and drank around the world but we did do responsibly. We didn’t put ourselves or anyone else in danger. This is a place families vacation, and while my fiancée and I are childless millennials, I don’t want the reputation of Disney parks to be damaged, and I’m afraid this type of crowd will ruin it for everyone when something bad happens and Disney bans alcohol from the parks. I really don’t know what happened this trip, but I’ve never seen the guests behave like such animals. Yes I’m use to the strollers thinking they own the park, but some of the stuff I witnessed was ridiculous. I know it wasn’t just us either, as I’ve seen YouTube videos from vloggers saying they had to leave the park because guests were yelling at guest members and that MK was extremely hostile with guests arguing with each other. I’m glad our next vacation will be a Disney cruise. I really hope this isn’t the future of the parks as we love Disney! It’s sad to see the class level get this bad at the largest tourist destination in the world. Rant over.
