If anyone else is following along, here's the PM I sent andyman8-

It appears that you have track that is made by Life-Like (brand.)
It is their "Power-Loc" track product.

Anyway, my paper-clip (or similar) fix would be to cut a couple of "spears" from a paper clip and
wedge a spear between each of the silver track sections. That would complete the electrical connection through the paper clip spears.

I hope it might help others with similar problems.

I am sure you have resolved the problem by now but for those interested I have brand new track parts... 2 packs (4 total pieces) of straight Disney HO railroad tracks and 1 pack (2 total pieces) of curved track on ebay right now. All are new never opened. I am a new member so look for ebay user "cenation1984" and check my auctions.
