I voted for Disney Animation - I really enjoyed visiting the studios on the Adventures by Disney tour this year and would love to see what all they could come up with!

I almost chose Food and Wine but I feel like at sea they tend to make "safe" choices with food as it is (does anyone else's steak ALWAYS come out overcooked for what you request?) and I'm not sure they could pull it off as well as on land! Limited staff for it, limited ingredients... I just don't know how it would work but I envision it being a really small event compared to the one at Epcot so I'd rather just do that!

Steak slightly overcooked? Yes. I always order under what I really want.

Which Adventures by Disney tour was that and where? That's sounds awesome!

I would like more details on the international food and wine. Would they bring on extra chefs like they do at WDW, or just have the usual chefs cooking international food? If they're going to charge a premium (above and beyond the premium they already charge to cruise with the Mouse) I hope they do something extra special to make it worthwhile.

I watched the head chef cremate my "medium rare" steak during the on-deck barbeque party on the first DCL Hawaiian cruise. The meat was literally on fire. Sorry, DCL, you can do better. If they bring on extra chefs, maybe the DCL chefs will improve -- may a French pastry chef will make real eclairs (I do declare!) and not just rely on defrosted Krispy Kreme donuts.

None of the new offerings, as is, would be a draw for me and/or mine.

But if I were Disney, I would create an entire Pixar themed cruise on one of the ships during May, an off-month, as I think it would draw not only Pixar fans but also repeat Disney cruisers looking for a new child-centric experience.

An entire three or four day Princess themed cruise featuring all the princesses might also prove popular. I certainly would have gone out of my way to do that with my granddaughters when they were younger.

What would be a draw for me and mine is an entire Villains themed cruise featuring at least eight villains. They could bring back Villains Tonight! for it.

I don’t think its new. I believe they’ve done Pixar cruises in the past.

I guess I’m one of the few that put Disney music. I like music more then I like standing in line for a picture.

I love Disney music, but would they bring in live musicians? Just wondering what they have in mind. A friend plays the sax in the Disneyland band -- I'm sure she'd love to play on a cruise.

They always have live musicians on the ship. I don’t think it would be a problem.

There needs to be a "theme-free cruise" option on your list. It's enough that it's already a Disney cruise. I don't want any more theming.
Exactly. I don't cruise to participate in special themeing. I cruise to cruise. The already provided Disney entertainment is enough. As long as they go back to the 3 major shows PLUS individual entertainers on other nights.

I would agree with that too. I don’t think they do a great job with theming. I prefer the special entertainment they have on the European and longer cruises.

I don’t cruise for the themes either. that’s why I picked music. Disney music instead of the pop music the musicians play would be a nice change for one day. As long as it’s not “ it’s a small work” on a loop.

I don’t really need additional theming. The whole Star Wars and especially Marvel thing really turns me off. The only one I kind of liked was the Pixar one. Our whole family enjoys Pixar movies and it would nice if there were some additional things around that. Not sure we need a whole themed cruise of it though, lol.

Both of the Southern California tours they do go to the Walt Disney Studios (and Imagineering)! We were on Backstage Magic but after we had booked they also started doing a shorter one that skips the Hollywood & Jim Henson studios parts.

I feel like the food is already very international. Cabanas has a different country's food highlighted at lunch every day and it is always really good.

My granddaughters agree with you. When I asked them if they wanted a regular cruise, a Halloween cruise or an Xmas cruise, they both voted for a regular cruise. They didn't want holiday focused stuff interfering with their Disney experience. (Same attitude at WDW.)

However, we ended up doing a themed cruise anyway because that was only option available in our autumn time frame and, on my part, I am not brokenhearted about it. Both our 4-night 2005 Disney Wonder cruise and 7-night 2008 Disney Magic cruise featured Dreams, Golden Mickeys and a unique-to-that-ship show (loved Twice Charmed!) and I can remember being disappointed with the lack of variety and there not being more theatrical shows on the 7-night cruise so I will likely appreciate the added Halloween entertainment.

But if they stick to less entertainment on the regular cruises, then increase it as part of a themed cruise, they can charge more money!

Yes! Steak overcooked, seafood overcooked, pasta overcooked, but I digress...

I think I picked Food and Wine because for us, at least, one of the big negatives to a Disney cruise is the food. I think you nailed it with the "safe" description. We don't travel to eat safe food. I can cook that at home (though I'm trying my best to move on from that). When we travel, we like to experience new things and new foods - even our son. He is 20 now, so an adult, but even when he was a little kid he wasn't going to be satisfied with a diet of chicken fingers and cardboard pizza. I guess I was just hoping that if they offered a Food and Wine cruise, we could get some interesting offerings for a change. Besides - I'm all in for a wine cruise!! :goodvibes

I'm definitely a fan of this idea. I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea, but there are 365 days in a year - that's a lot of cruise time. I'm guessing Disney can figure out how to offer a nice selection to make everyone happy.

That isn't the type or quality of food served in the MDRs of DCL ships even now. There are a lot of options.
