Disney highchairs

This might be a weird question, but do the Disney restaurants use the standard restaurant wooden highchairs? I'm only asking because we've had a couple of recent experiences where restaurants have had this icky gray plastic highchairs. I'm one of those germ freak mom's who has a highchair cover and it doesn't fit on the plastic highchairs. I'd just like to know if we can use it or not before dragging the cover to the parks.

Thanks!

Most of the time they have the wooden highchairs. There are a few exceptions but I can't think of which restaurants they were in.

I know what you mean about the plastic ones, they always feel gross!

If you do encounter those plastic highchairs, do what I do. I simply carry a ton of wipes. I wipe everything down & then spray it with a travel Lysol. I don't have room in my diaper bag for a highchair cover & the latter kills the real yucky stuff (some germs are good for you).

Germs are always around.

I know many moms that buy those and make sure children wash hand in restrooms and the whole lot. But most don't realize with restrooms for instance that the germs are in the air too. With toliets unless the lid is down the water(germs included) spew a good 10 ft out hindering washing hands and not touching the doors useless. But that doesn't mean we should stop washing hands or being careful with bathroom doors.

But the best defense would be to bring your cover if it helps you feel better. And some lysol wipes and spray and make do with whats available.

I've never been one to much worry about germs and I can count on one hand the # of times dd has been sick. :)

Also I would think germs would set inside the wood(like with wooden cutting boards that sometimes collect salmonela and infect fruit later despite being wash off) more than plastic. But I'm no expert.

Thanks for the info. We also carry the lysol wipes for a quick wipe down.

I didn't mean for this thread to turn into a germ debate. Of course I realize that germs are everywhere and that some germs are good for you, etc., etc. However, when my daughter was about 5 months old, she came down with a really bad case of rotavirus (it spread around her daycare classroom) and our pediatrician sent us to the emergency room at night two times in one week for hydration. Seeing your tiny baby hooked up to an IV would drive most parents to spend $10 on a highchair cover if there was even the slightest possibility that you could prevent something like that from happening in the future. I know that a lot of people think it's "good" for your kids to be exposed to things like rotavirus, etc. because it builds up their immunity and keeps them from being sick when they start school, but I can't help but think that a 3 or 4 year olds system would be better equiped to handle illnesses than a 6 month old's.

Besides, if I were a super germ freak we wouldn't even be going to WDW! I just think a little prevention is worthwhile, especially on vacation. I would hate to be three days into our trip and for my daughter to get sick with something I possibily could have prevented! :earsboy:

Does anyone know where to get the disposable highchair liners for the highchair tables? :flower: Thanks

If you mean the thin plastic type that just sticks onto the tray, I found them at Babies R Us and Target. It was about $10 for 20 of them.
