This is NOT a I hate Disney post the opposite is true. I just returned from an excellent trip with my wife to Disney (our third). I had a great time the whole family us DVC members and love it. I am writing this post just based on a disappointment that I had on this trip.

1. Disney downtown no longer has the Tails store. This is understandable stores change or go out of business BUT they do not have ONE pet related item in ANY of the stores in downtown or the parks anymore. We wanted a Disney collar for our dog and were disapointed by this.

2. I am a large man 6'1 and 300lbs yep I'm fat. I saw many clothing items I would have purchased jackets, shirts, ect. But almost Nothing authentic Disney is made in sizes above XL there are no XXL or XXXL anything available.

I know they do not really hate fat people or dogs but these things were disappointing. Still love Disney and returning about Christmas time just won't be buying any clothes or pet items I guess.:sad2:

I order merchandise for a gift shop and we do not carry anything above 2XL and only keep limited stock in that size. Do we hate "Fat People?" No the president of the company can't even wear what we have. We do not carry larger sizes because we wouldn't sell them.

It's tricky to find plus size clothes. Sometimes I see them on my trips, sometimes not. I think they sell out quick.

I remember when they had adorable dog stuff. The bowls, collars and placements were cute. I no longer have a dog (RIP sweet Sophie  ) but I remember being disappointed that I couldn't replace her broken dog bowl on my May 2011 trip.

They even used to have a couple of cat collars.

You would think they'd still have some of these items since I'm sure there is a market for it.
Here's the email for guest communications if you want to email them to suggest they get pet items and stock more plus size items.

I think there's a market especially for plus sized clothing. My Dad wears XXXL and wanted me to bring him back a shirt. Out of the hundreds of styles they offer at the parks I had a choice of 2 shirts when buying for him. It basically sucks. Everywhere I went I saw people my Dad's size. You would think Disney would realized that they have $ to spend too.

Have you tried online through disneystore.com? They have a whole section of authentic park merchandise. I found a shirt I liked and was going to buy it, but they only had it in 2XL and 3XL, which wouldn't work for me. Good luck!

My husband, who is in XXL and same height and close in weight to you, was able to find a few shirts during our last trip. There certainly isn't a wide selection but he always had a choice between a few.

I actually thought they were getting better at carrying plus size clothing.
I hope that's not changing!

Can I ask if you shopped at the resorts or in the parks? Not that it should make a difference but I think my DH bought his shirts at resort stores.

In regard to Tails...we now have a 1 year old wonderful dog who I know we would have bought Disney stuff for! It's disappointing to hear they don't carry anything for pets.

The Disney Corporation is ridiculously smart! They would sell Disney Swatickas if there was a big enough market for them! I'm guessing on a variety of surveys and focus groups as well as their own track record for selling pet accessories and larger apparel.

Good luck in your search though!

I haven't looked recently, but I think Mousegears @ Epcot has a pet section - they did the last time I was in that part of the store - bowls, collars, etc.

However if we look at this situation in light of current events it could well be that Disney is working covertly with nefarious forces that wish to influence public behavior to get people to

A. Lose weight by making plus size clothes more difficult to find, thereby reducing the impact on national health costs, making the universal healthcare program less unaffordable

B. Make pet ownership less appealing, helping lead to the ultimate goal of radical animal rights groups to eliminate companion animals from American life.

Am I just kidding.....perhaps, but then again....

I purchased dog items at DW, Mousegear I think. Got a collar and bowl. You can send an email to the Disney Store and they should be able to tell you where to get them. My issue is that I can't find Disney Luggage in the 30 inch size anymore. Guess it isn't selling since most folks don't want to pay to check it on flights. :confused3

They really do hate dogs. They refuse to let me have my golden retriever and Bernese mountain dog at my wedding ceremony even if I put them inside giant air tight bubbles. what harm can dogs inside airtight bubbles cause they can't pee on the carpet shed or bite anyone a drunk guy could cause more damage. for what I'm paying for my wedding they should be kissing my feet. everything I have asked for they have said no to. I am never wasting my money a this dog hating company again

Giant airtight bubbles? :rotfl2:

I find that VERY hard to believe!!
Im a big guy as well, and have noticed how difficult it is to find T's in my size, and I have had many conversations at Disney, with 3X-4X size folks who find it annoying that WDW will not stock items in their size. I can't tell you how many times I have asked salespeople in Downtown Disney stores, who, when asked if they have my size in stock, say that the few they DO get, fly off the shelves very quickly! I hope it's not a case of Disney PC'ness against overeating or obesity, I certainly do not want to go to WDW to hear and see that kind of nonsense. Im not here to defend being overly chunky, but lets face it.....there are a LOT OF US at the parks who would eagerly purchase sizes larger than 2X.

I few years ago I got my dog the cutest collar with Mickey heads on it... ironically enough, he is now too fat to wear it. But I think I got it at the down town Disney store.

At least they sell xxl and xxxl online. Disney really hates tall skinny people (think Goofy sized). They don't even sell ST (small tall) or MT (medium tall) online.

We have been looking for pet supplies over the last couple of trips. During our last trip in May of this year, we stopped to ask a World of Disney CM (and her supervisor, who was standing with her) where we might find pet supplies. They confirmed that all pet supplies had been discontinued throughout the resort. They "thought" Merchandising might be re-evalutating the pet line, but they weren't sure when/if such merchandise might reappear.

I would think that Disney would believe there is a market for pet goods, especially given the updated kennel services. I guess we wait and see.

In regards to fat people clothes, its not a Disney thing, its a supply and demand thing. I have been a fat guy my whole life and always had to go above and beyond to find clothes that I like. Lets face it, M, L, and XL are much more popular sizes then XXL and XXXL.

But I do agree with the PP, I am starting to see bigger sizes in Disney now for the first time. It seems like I was able to find larger sizes in the resorts more then the parks. Larger meaning xxl & xxxl. I have never seen anything above a in Disney larger then 3xl.

And I absolutely believe that the above CM doesn't have access to anything larger then 2xl. ALL retailers are cutting back stocking their slower moving items. And with all the recent cutbacks at Disney im sure they are on top of inventory control as well.

So what's all this garbage about how fat Americans are? Either they are everywhere, and therefore require clothing to fit them or they are not. I don't understand. How could Disney miss a market that big (pun intended).

Before you attempt to tell me "what for", I am also a constant, if not less than enthusiastic purchaser of "large" sizes that cannot be found in the land of Disney. You can find them just off site at Walmart and frankly the selection is better and they last longer than anything I have purchased on site. About half the price too. I guess if Disney doesn't want my money...someone else does. :confused3

I too have wondered why they got rid of their pet stuff. I remember seeing some squeaky toys a while ago long before my little dog was my little dog. I do hope they bring it back though! I'd love to get him some mickey food and water dishes and other cute things like toys and leashes!

Sadly, I'm sure it's a supply and demand issue. If they sold an abundance of pet items, the store would have stayed open. Same with the larger sizes - if they sold an abundance, they would stock just shy of an abundance. I'm sure someone will pose the question: "If they never larger sizes, how will they truly know how much will sell?" I have this question too but I can imagine that Disney's marketing department knows better than me  So it all goes back to the line "due to 'guest demand'..." Sheesh.

Meanwhile, my fiance is one of those 6'1" 270+ guys who says "[insert store name here] is prejudiced against fat people". :goodvibes

Following this train of thought, Disney also hates boys between ages 10 and 16.
Try finding boys clothes over size 10, it's impossible and my autistic son has fits because nothing is available for him. He wears a 14 and a men's small is just too big.
