Disney has Oswald Back - YEAH!!!!

"Make no mistake, ESPN didn't release Al Michaels from his contract to announce next season's Monday Night Football for nothing in return. No, it was part of a "trade" in which NBC received Michaels' services as a Sunday-night football broadcaster in exchange for ceding rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a cartoon character created by Walt Disney in 1927 but later lost to Universal — necessitating Disney's creation of Mickey Mouse. In the deal, ESPN also received broadcast rights to the Ryder Cup golf championship, starting in 2008."


I'm so happy to hear this - it's always bothered me how WD's character was essentially stolen.

I saw that in the paper today. Al Michaels for a cartoon rabbit...sounds about right! JK, I like AM.

When I first heard about this I thought it was a joke.

I really like Michaels but IMO he wasn't worth all this. There are plenty of play by play guys that could do it just as well.

But then again, maybe most guys refuse to work with Madden. I know I can't stand him.

I didn't even know that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit still existed, in rights, at least.

Too bad Walt isn't around to savor his return.

the funny thing is though, had the lucky rabbit not been stolen, it's possible that Walt would never have created Mickey, and the empire might never have been created, WDW and the dis might not exist as we know them today,

I just hope that management doesn't make too much out of Oswald, and overshadow Mickey
