From TV Guide:
"Make no mistake, ESPN didn't release Al Michaels from his contract to announce next season's Monday Night Football for nothing in return. No, it was part of a "trade" in which NBC received Michaels' services as a Sunday-night football broadcaster in exchange for ceding rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a cartoon character created by Walt Disney in 1927 but later lost to Universal necessitating Disney's creation of Mickey Mouse. In the deal, ESPN also received broadcast rights to the Ryder Cup golf championship, starting in 2008."
I'm so happy to hear this - it's always bothered me how WD's character was essentially stolen.
