I got the intent of the OP right away, but I must say, as someone who suffers both motion sickness and vertigo, a more-cheaply priced "visitor's pass" would be greatly appreciated! I can see the shows, but SO MANY of the rides are beyond my ability to manage. I am good for one ride on TT, BTMRR (which I love), Safari, and Soarin', Safari, and I'm pretty much done. Even Dumbo makes me motion sick! Splash, Space, M:S, ToT, RnRC, TSMM, Dinosaur, PW, KRR, EE, etc., are all out of the question! OK, I admit, TTA is my favorite ride!

But it sure worked out nicely in the end for them. They got their "all-inclusive" pricing structure and can now close the circle by moving the benefits under that system back closer to the ones they had with the ticket books. Sort of the best of both worlds. For the bottom line anyway.

I have noticed that the most ardent FP+ supporters with the least sense of humor seem to be concentrated in the Wisconsin area. Not sure if that has anything to do with cheese and rodents or what, just an observation. Maybe it's just so cold up there right now it isn't funny.

Second - LakeTravis - I spent 60 years in Wisconsin, am not an ardent FP+ supporter (cuz we're AP holders and haven't been able to take advantage of them yet), and for the record I have a great sense of humor so I guess I don't fit your profile. I would love for Disney to be free (or very cheap) to enter (so people could eat and shop) and then pay by the ride.

I wouldn't complain if Disney offered that option, either. I deal with both motion sickness and vertigo as well, meaning I've never been able to deal with spinny rides. Circlevision at DL put me on the floor when I was a teenager; motion simulators are right out and I haven't even watched any of the movies at Epcot. The only amusement park rides I ever liked were carousels or coasters, and now my back can't handle coasters so they're out, too. Meaning the list of rides I can actually ride at WDW is painfully short.

Don't see the "visitor's pass" coming along anytime soon, though. Disney can get too many people into the parks with the regular price to offer it. And to be honest, while there are no rides I'd really miss at Hollywood Studios, it'd be hard to go to the AK and not ride the Safari, or Epcot and skip Maelstrom, or the MK and not ride Pan or Pirates. So a pretty livable fact of life in my case.

FP+ will eventually move to a 5 tier system. Each tier will be assigned a color and a letter ranging from A to E. Each attraction will have a designated tier and all attractions will require use of an entitlement. Guests will be able to purchase a virtual book of attraction tickets with designated letters of A thru E. As guests use their MBs at attractions, the kiosk will display a video of a virtual separation of the appropriate colored ticket from the virtual entitlement book. Guests may purchase more virtual entitlement books to match their particular touring style (and wallets).

The more things change, the more they stay the same?

One difference from the previous iteration will be that each attraction entitlement will be pre-assigned specific 1-hour windows of required guest arrival time. These times will be optimized by artificially intelligent scheduling algorithms - the results will certainly excite guests! In the unlikely event that the unexpected happens and timely arrival is jeopardized, guests may try to change the pre-scheduled times at the peril of angering the scheduling algorithms. Keep in mind that algorithms are sensitive and when their feelings are hurt they been known to treat guest entitlements with a degree of contempt.

This new “one size fits all” bundling of the entrance fee and the ride tickets is terrible! If kids can ride anything they want, with no limits, then the most popular rides are going to be SLAMMED. Lines are going to escalate like crazy! What was Disney thinking?

And talk about sticking it to the customers! Used to be, we could take grandma along pretty easily. She didn’t care about most of the rides and was happy to see her grandkids having fun, so a nominal entrance fee and a few tickets that would have gone to waste and we'd get a great family day. Now we have to pay FULL PRICE to take grandma along, even though she isn’t going to be riding. This is so much harder on large families; no more spreading tickets around the family to stretch your money. Everyone has to pay as if they were going to ride everything. So unfair to those who just like to "feel the magic." What a cheat!

I am furious, FURIOUS about this change. Who’s with me?

So true! I've been visiting WDW since the year it first opened. I've seen a lot of changes come and go. Some I agreed with, some I didn't, but the one thing you learn over the years is everything changes. Most people are resistent to change, so we go through these "growing pains" every time. If you don't like the way things are now, just give it a few years and it will all change again!

My first trip during the MDE/FP+ transition had some definite challenges, but every trip since then has improved so much that now it seems totally normal to use the band and reserve the rides ahead of time. I will be happy when they stop sending bands for each trip though. I'm getting quite the collection . . .

It's ironic that the ad on the page while I'm typing this is a WDW ad for FP+ . . . .

That's the point of this - what is "senior" and how often will we have to come back here and debate what a "senior" is? Age 50 as in AARP? Age 65? Age 70? Or, if there is a "senior" rate for people that don't want to ride thrill rides than why not have that rate for a child who is considered an "adult" by Disney but is still scared of thrill rides?

Yes, I realize the initial post was sarcasm but the point has been brought up. Disney cannot have every single want or need a guest has available on a pass. You take what is offered, you go to Disney World, have the best time you can with what you have available and - this is a concept - spend time with your family.

2) But, you fail to see-visualize-appreciate the benefits.
. . . kids can ride all day without your supervision
. . . grandma can roam all day with the grandkids
3) In both cases,
. . . you can lose the kids
. . . you can lose grandma
. . . you can leave them and they wouldn't know
. . . you can run away, since they don't know your hotel without any hard room keys
4) This is even better than Child-Swap when you want to swap the kids (or grandma) for new ones.
