Okay, our family is planning a trip to DisneyWorld for October '07. My boys have been twice already (once when they were 4 & 5 and then again last year when they were 8 & 9) My husband has been like 5 times and I have been 3 times.

I think like most people, the planning is such a great part of the trip. And since we have a year and half before we go, I'd like to collect as much info as possible (I'm looking for hard cover info--books, dvd's, etc) I realize that there is TONS OF INFO on these boards and others, but I'd like to have a few books and stuff to look through. I just ordered the free vacation planning kit through the mail, but can you tell me what other books and stuff I can get my hands on? I know there's an Unofficial Disney Guide out there and plan on getting one when the '07 version comes out (by the way, do you know when that would be?) Any info would be great!!!

The Unofficial Guide is a really good one. My personal favorite is the Passporter it has room to write in it as well as info. Have a great trip!

I've read both Birnbaum's and the Unofficial Guide, and have to say the UG offers a better non-biased opinion, and a lot more info in general.

And I just signed up for Tourguide Mike...Mike has more info than Disney's own library. :)

I always buy Birnbaum's, but after listening to many on this board, I decided to also buy the unofficial guide this time around. I am really enjoying a different perspective. There are so many out there and in the past I feel like I tried buying any and all that came along. I determined that Birnbaum's is my personal favorite, but I would definitely buy the UG again! Happy planning!

I buy Birnbaum's but I also buy the Passporter's Guide. It comes in paperback, hardback, which has spiral "seams" and then there is a leather addition, which is a notebook and you can easily remove items and put them back, plus replace them when the next addition becomes available.

The Passporter has maps, individual ones for each park that you can use to plan your trek through the park and take with you then put it back when you get back to your room. It has envelopes for each day of your trip to put momentos, which is great for scrapbooking. But the best part is that you only have to take what you want instead of the whole book.

Check it out! You can order them on line at Amazon.com.

A couple of sites to check out (if you haven't already) are www.allearsnet.com - she has all of the restaurant menus, hotel photos, reviews of everything, etc. Also, www.mousesavers.com . You can sign up for her newsletters which announce special savings on various Disney things, and has TONS of great tips! I got a nice new suitcase for 20% off through a discount that her site provides! :teeth:

I purchased the UG this weekend. He stated in the book that the new '07 will come out in the fall. Good luck!

Can I ask what is tourguide mike?
tourguidemike.com, it's a subscription website with tons of info, touring plans, etc. Mike sponsors the Parks/Attractions forum here. If you're on that forum, he's at the top of the page with a banner offering a $3 discount to all DISers.

I just joined over the weekend, and even with all the times I've been to WDW, all the guidbooks and websites I've read, the amount of info Mike has is just astounding. Worth every penny I've spent so far and I haven't even USED it in the parks yet! :)

I usually buy the Unofficial Guide because they give you the good, the bad and the ugly!

My favorite also is the unofficial guide to DW. I bought a new one off of ebay and it was very inexpensive and came in great condition!

I got the Passporter on someones reccomendation. I love it. DH told me to get the UG and to join Tourguide Mikes site as well. Haven't had a chance to do either but I will this week.

There is also a book sold on EBAY by an ex-CM that is full of everything you always wanted to know about Disney and how to save $$$. It is only $9.95 and you download it directly onto your computer. It had a total of 97 pages and you can get yearly updates free of charge :moped: :bounce:

For the best unbiased information Unoffical Guide is the best sorce of information. Combined with touringplans.com(which updates the book throughout the year)it can't be beat. :thumbsup2

What is the name of this book? Always interested in more books! :goodvibes

It is The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World - it is very good - your library probably has it - ours does - of course, any book store will have it right next to Birnbaum's which is also great.

My DH swears by the UG - Disney on a Dime is a good one also. The best on I have found is Passporter for Special Needs - It has everything broken down by conditions even restaurants I highly recommend it if you or someone in your party has special needs.

I am planning a trip in July
and today my passporter came in :cheer2: (thank you DISers!)
I have read some of it, and think it is going to be very useful.
I got mine from amazon for about $14.
It has some pockets in the back of it for each day, also on the pockets you can write down things about your trip. It has maps of all the parks. LOL it has tons more!!

Just reading it makes me happy! :Pinkbounc

are we there yet? :hourglass

I purchase both the Birnbaum's and The Unofficial Guide to WDW for research on our Sept CBR trip. I preferred The Unofficial Guide to WDW. It has everything you'd want to know. :thumbsup2

151 Days to go :hourglass
