Okay... I see a lot of post's about Disney Guides. To me it look like people are talking about who "sold" them the DVC .

Maybe it is me, I only heard directly from my "seller" 4 times... First time was when I went on the tour, second when I closed on my first contract. Third time I heard from him, I called to add-on, and 4th when I closed on the second add on.

Do other people talk with their Guide more often? Is there any benefits of doing so?

We're like you, actually we talked to our guide less since both contracts we bought on site, so he didn't have to call at closing. The second time he seemed like he didn't want to talk to us really. We told him we were going to be onsite and wanted to see the AKV mockups and maybe add-on. He pretty much was like well you can just add on over the phone. He did actually meet with us, we just setup an appointment, something's just odd about dropping that much cash over the phone I guess.

He did however tell us to wait a few days into our trip since they happened to be rolling out a better incentive at that time, that was nice. He also hooked us up with some fast passes, so I have no complaints, I just don't see myself being all chatty with him, it seemed like he was pretty busy.

I never talk to my guide unless I'm adding on. Oh, I did get a "Thank you for the Referral" note, even though they didn't purchase.

I forgot about that, we also got a thanks for the referral letter, since we live in a state where we can't participate in the rewards :sad2:

We talk to our guide reasonably often...in the two years since my initial purchase, I've done 3 add-on's, and also he met w/two people I referred (and I told him they would be contacting him ahead of time)...we like him. I'd talk to him more often, just to chit chat, except that I know he's busy and I've got all the points I need/want (finally!) now...but he's a nice person who likes to talk about Disney and about his kids and my kid...I consider him as much a friend as I consider a number of people on these boards! He's been very helpful w/my various purchase-related questions...I guess that makes me one of those people who "like to talk to timeshare salespeople"--or at least my timeshare salesperson!

Our original Guide left DVC six months to a year after we bought in.At that point we were assigned a new Guide.Spoke to him once for an add-on--in 1998 or so.Played phone tag with him back in January in declining the OKW extension--never actually spoke with him.* Just traded voice messages.Unless we plan another add-on, who knows when, or if, we'll ever speak with him again!

We haven't spoken to our Guide since we bought, although I'm thinking about stopping by to say hello to him when we're at SSR in June. We really like him, but I don't have a reason to call him or anything.

Our guide is very good about keeping us informed about incentives that Disney offers. It seems like we talk to her one or two times a year, which is fine with us. She is never pushy about trying to get us to buy more points, just informative.:flower3:

Our guide is very good, and since he is an Ohio State Fan, and we're from USC, we have to raz him a bit.

We really only talk during the contract negotiations and during closing. We will call him once in a while when we want to find out about current incentives.
