So this may sound silly, but we are currently searching for a Disney-themed Grandma name for my mom. I have a young stepdaughter that has a very close relationship with my parents. She also has grandparents on her mom's side, then my husband's parents (2 sets, one of which we don't have much affiliation with). My point is, all the good names are taken.

Now, we've never asked or pushed her to call them anything other than their names, but it's evident that they need grandparent names with my husband and I actively trying to conceive.

My dad is so much fun! But he also has a bit of a temper and can become sour and reserved pretty quickly. I feel so bad saying that out loud, but it's true. SO TRUE that his character for as long as we've been Disney people has always been Grumpy. Over time he's acquired many Grumpy shirts and what not. So when my husband and I got married in Disney during the Flower and Garden Festival, we came across a Grumpy topiary and BAM! That was it! He was dubbed "Grumpy," and I've never seen a little girl so eager to call a man that. She just LOVES calling him Grumpy.

Last week, we were at the beach and my little girl (DSD) told my mom that she needed a Disney grandma name (clearly we are big disney people) to match Grumpy's. Particularly she needed a Snow White Grandma name is what she said.

I can't think of anything! My mom's name is Vanessa, so I'm trying to think of a play on that.

names already taken: MawMaw, Meme, Granny, and Nana.

creative minded help wanted, please!

What about...

Minnie
Essie (play on Vanessa)
Gigi (just thought it was cute)
Gram (what my kids call my mom)

So... I'm reaching a lot, but I DO like Grand Mum (also seems like something Snow White might've called her grandma)
Grand Mum (the grandma on Sofia the First)
F. G. - Fairy Godmother?
Fauna (the fairies are grandma-ish figures)
Grandma Fa (Mulan)
Granny (used many times in Disney)

Particularly she needed a Snow White Grandma name is what she said.

Queenie? Haha, as in The Evil Queen? Hopefully your mother would find that humorous and not offensive!

Snow White is a German fairy tale, and the German name for Grandma is Oma. This is actually what my mom is known as to my daughter!

Believe it or not, I had totally forgot that I posted this in the past 24 hours. So to see these suggestions REALLY excited me because they're AWESOME!!!

I don't know why I never thought of Minnie! I really love the idea of Oma, and Nani is super cute, too!

How about Nana? I love nana in Peter pan.

ETA: I missed Nana was taken! I would go with Nala.

Well neither of my suggestions are Disney inspired but I like them. My sister in laws grandkids all call her Honey (guess it could be from Winnie the Pooh) and then a friend of ours grandson calls her Toots ( a version of Tootsie not the bodily function) :teeth:

I love Minnie, but if it must be something Snow White related, the only thing I can think of that wouldn't be a dwarf or evil queen would be Birdie (after the little bluebird that sings to her and is shown on her hand in so many Snow White prints and pictures).

Well, not Disney, but, my grandkids call me Gummy, my step granddaughter calls me grams.
Or how about Besta...Just a few not so Disney but yet special...She will find one on her
own, as mine have... We have no idea where Gummy came from, but, whenever I hear
it, it brings a smile to my face and love to my heart....Good luck

I guess I didn't think of those :flower:So, as far as I know, I am the only Gummy.
As a side note, the children in my grandkids school call me Gummy as well, a very
endearing term :flower3:

Have you asked your mom what she wants to be called? I know I would not like to be called some of the names suggested here.

She really likes Minnie and, same as me, couldn't believe we never thought of that. I guess my husband had just thrust "Nonna" upon her. He wanted it because HE is Italian, but I can assure you my mother is far from that. My mom comes from a Cajun French background, and nothing about he says "Nonna"... now, Minnie. That's SOOOOO my mom. And my sister wants to be "Nani" because it's really close to "Nanny" which is what we call Godmothers down here.

Have you thought of Sweetie? Ties in with Snow White...apples. Also opposite of Grumpy!

I had not thought of that! I love that. I realize I'm pretty young, but I've already decided whenever I'm a grandma I want to be "Honey" because a lady I worked with years ago was that and I just loved it! But I really like Sweetie!

My hubby's mom is southern & would always ask my son for 'sugar' (kisses, hugs, love) As he began to talk he thought her name was Sugar, so he calls her Grandma Sugar. Maybe Grandma Dis, or Grammy White?
