I just saw the article in the fall disney files - I had never heard about it so I checked out the website. Certainly out of my price range - the cheapest i saw was $1,999,999. Why would they waste the space in their Disney files - certainly the homes are exquisite, but i think for the typical DVC owner there is not a realistic chance that we could afford them, Maybe one day i will hit the lottery and then i can buy my little piece of golden oaks.

I loved the article! Can I afford to live there? No way!!!! It is an interesting place though, and I enjoyed learning more about it. It is something of a mystery since it is so exclusive, so I liked looking behind the veil a bit!

Ken Potrock runs the DVC, Golden Oak, and ABD so that's why they ran the story, free advertising.

Back when Golden Oaks first launched, I received, through snail mail, a video player with Golden Oaks video advertisement. I have no idea how they got the idea I could afford a $2M home. I have since hacked the player and loaded on my own video.

I don't think Ken Potrock runs Golden Oak. Golden Oak is headed by Page Pierce, Vice President for Disney Resort Resal Estate Development.

I enjoyed the article. Since I have chosen to retire to Cape May NJ, I appreciated the other perspective.

would love to rent one of these. I see they can do 6 month + rentals.

I want to retire to Cape May
It has taken us 12 hours, but we are nearly there!

We will put our Ohio house for sale in March. We've had our CM house since '98, and cannot wait for it to really be home!

Are you serious?

Yes I grew up in Jersey and miss the beach every day-living 7 hrs from the beach is sad. Maybe once I hit retirement age I'll make it back there permanently :)

pixiedust:I hope you get your Dream retirement!

I grew up in Newark, Tom grew up in Trenton. We met on the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights! Coming back to NJ after Tom's work brought him to Ohio was my dream!
