Disney Gift Cards

I apologize if this question has been asked before...

I have a friend going to the US next weekend. Are the Disney gift cards sold at Walmart, Target, etc accepted at Disney World? I'm thinking about getting a couple for my kids for Christmas so they can use them for souvenirs, etc.

I've read that is you use your Target Red Card (i guess that's their credit card??) you get a discount on everything, including the Disney Gift Cards --- not sure if this will help you or not?

Yes, you can use a Target card to get 5% off 99% of items at the store and even "entertainment" gift cards. When Target was still in Canada, you could use your Canadian Target MasterCard at a US store and get the 5% off. The dilemma for most Canadians is being able to get a US Target card. I'm an American with a US billing address, so I have one, and I bought US$8000 in cards for US$7600 over six months to pay for our Disney package. So you can look at it as saving $400 off the cost of the package or that I got myself a $0.80 exchange rate instead of this lousy $0.75 one. ;-)
