Can I buy Disney gift cards ahead of time? If so, where do I purchase them? I want to include then in surprise bags for the kids, and it would be easier to have that done before the trip and just bring them.

I bought mine from the link the PP posted. I like those better because they have DL specific cards as opposed to the ones sold at the Disney Store just have Mickey and such on them.

DL mailed me my GC and a receipt within a week of when I purchased it.

I just bought one at the Disney store as a grad gift for someone. I couldn't wait for it to be sent in the mail, I needed it sooner. They also have Disney Dollars you can get at the Disney store which they might like instead. They are very cool and feel like free money. I just got some from a student. :goodvibes

I just noticed I said the Disney Dollars "feel like free money"! :rotfl: I meant "feel like real money"! This is the second time I've use one word in place of another. Maybe I was thinking they were free to me because they were a gift? :confused3 I'm afraid of what I might say next!

Ohhh...I totally forgot about Disney Dollars! Thanx for the reminder. I do have a Disney Store not too far away so that might be a good solution! thanx everyone

I love gift cards. We just used $250 dollars worth of gift cards on our trip last week and I loved being able to use it and not have to carry my ID, like if I used a credit card/debit card. We got ours at the ticket booth - when we activated our AP's from Costco. The receipt that you get from your purchase also shows how much is left on your card, which makes it really easy to keep track.

I am planning on re-loading some of our gift cards before we go in July. We were able to get 5 different designs at the ticket booths and then we saw some really cool g. cards at the picture place right outside of Space and they have really great looking Space Mountain cards, too. :thumbsup2 That's the only place I ever saw the SM cards.

If you're like me, you typo words that sound similar when you're tired. :headache:

Seems so weird that they have Disneyland gift cards with the Skyway on it, though...I assume the fine print on the mouse ears says something about classics/etc. but it still seems odd to me.

The gift cards seem like they'd be so much fun for kids, though! I can see where they'd help for budgeting too...I don't mind carrying around a wallet/purse so I've never been big on gift cards myself. Though I did suggest my friend request some for her birthday to help pay for our upcoming trip. :)

Well, that makes sense. The end of school year is always nuts and everyone plans all kinds of events I have to attend. I am so tired! :upsidedow

I use a credit card everywhere at DLR. I prefer that to money on a gift card. I always bring my drivers license, AP, CC, and medical insurance card. I leave everything else at home like library card, etc. But if something were to happen I think those things are good to have on me.

I budget with gift cards ~ I admit I'm not much of a saver so by purchasing a $50 GC each time I'm paid I have quite a bit of "cash" set aside for Disney! I recently learned I can add $ to an exsisting GC by calling ~ Disneyland DelivEARS (1-800-760-3566)

wow...I think budgeting with the gift cards is a REALLY good idea! Then you could pay ahead of time...little by little...I assume you can use them for restaraunts too...

I always get the kids gift cards when we take a trip. Basically, I match their money. So, if they have saved up $25, they give me the money and I get them a $50 gift card.

It makes it so nice. I don't have to hear them begging me to buy them anything. When the gift card is empty, the fun is done. :rotfl: They are really careful with "their" money.

Just an idea...:upsidedow

Yes ~ I use them pretty much everywhere, the only place your wouldn't be able to is the food carts that take cash only, on our most recent trip the Churro carts were taking cards!
