Disney Gift Cards Question

Can you still purchase Disney Gift Cards and pay for your theme park tickets? Just want to confirm before I go to BJ's and buy $2000 worth of GCs....


I have done this in the past but it has been a few years, just wanted to double check with the experts...

Yes, Disney gift cards can be used to purchase tickets directly from WDW. I think you can only use 1 gift card per transaction, though, so if you are buying multiple tickets you might need to do them as separate transactions.

Yes, I'm a huge fan of buying them at Target for the 5% off to use on trips. Use the Disney Gift Card site to combine them onto as few cards as possible. If you need to spend more than 1 card at a time you'll need to actually call into Guset Services though as the online system is not set up to accept multiple gift cards at one time.

To some folks it's not. If our trip with a resort and tickets comes to say $5k then buying gift cards 3rd party saves me $250. It may cost me 20 minutes on the phone with a cast member but savings helps me finance the kids souvenirs.

Yes. There is a thread on the Budget Board that is worth following, since on occasion you can get pretty notable savings.

Regarding the additional work involved, I booked a discounted rate already for an upcoming stay at GF in a 1-bedroom suite, and I paid for most of the balance with gift cards that were 10% off. The savings are phenomenal, conservatively more than 40% off rack rate, and (for me) certainly worth an extra bit of effort.
