I have a few disney gift cards. Can I add them to my account on the ship to spend them?

Is this something I can do ahead of time or only on the ship. Also can I put them on say my kids KTTW card so they have spending money without access to my credit card?

You can add them before. I am not sure if you can add them to your kid's accounts specifically.

Each KTTW card can have it's own payment source. You could set your child's KTTW card with a cash back up (Disney Gift card), I believe, while leaving the credit card on yours.

You can call DCL and have the gift cards applied to your account. Or do it once onboard. Whatever way you do it, be sure to keep ahold of the gift cards. In the off chance that there is any credit leftover (ha, ha) DCL will apply it back to the gift card, and not a cash refund.

We added the gift cards to our account on embarkation day - just took them over to Guest Services after getting Anna & Elsa tickets. Pretty easy.

Yeah...we never have that *problem.* :rotfl2:

You can also use Disney Gift Cards in the shops on-board.

I keep an eye on my charges and go down every couple of days with another gift card. To avoid putting more on my account than I intend to use.

I did have that problem on our cruise in January, but only because I had added stateroom credit to cover our planned excursions from my Disney Vacation Account. We were unable to dock at Castaway Cay so the anticipated expense for two cabanas for 15 guests did not get deducted from the account and went back to the DVA. Wasn't hard to just use that for the next cruise :-)
