Can you use Disney gift cards at the food carts (i.e. ice cream, churros, popcorn, etc)??
What about at counter service and table service restaurants?

Was thinking it might be handy to have a few in the purse for such ice cream emergencies that happen :thumbsup2

Thanks!!

I know you can use them at counter service and table service, but I am not sure about the carts. We only used gift cards while we were in Disneyland.

You can use them at carts if they have a credit card machine. The more permanent carts have them, but those wandering carts may not.

So I`m thinking it might be a good idea to have a couple small ones on hand :)

If I order them online (say when booking World of Color picnics or parking pass), how do they come?? Will they be mailed to me?? Or can I pick them up at Disneyland with a voucher or something??

Thanks!!

They will come in the mail. You can buy Disney gift cards at a lot of places now a days, such as Safeway and Walgreens.

I'm in Canada, will that make a difference??

Maybe we should just wait until we get there and then got a few when we first go in.....

I had $350 on a Disney Gift Card on our trip this past July, and I was so glad I did! The only place that didn't take the card was a little stand in California Adventure where my brother and his girlfriend wanted to buy a beer. All of the other stands took the card. We bought mangos and pickels at the fruit stand, I took my family of 9 out to dinner at the Plaza Inn, and also bought dinner for my brother, his girlfriend and I at the Blue Bayou (only had $77 on it at the time so used another credit card to pay for the rest). I ordered the card months before time with $50 or $100 dollars on it. I would then call the customer service line every once in a while and have them upload money on it using my bank card. It was easy! I was pretty afraid to lose it though, kept checking my Baggalini to make sure it was still there!

This is right. We always budget by using gift cards, and we found on our last trip that while the permanent carts are often ok, wandering carts and especially World of Color carts DO NOT. (And boy, was I annoyed. )

So, my suggestion is to keep an emergency 20 or two in your wallet, just in case. Otherwise, you should be fine.

I used gift cards 2 weeks ago. The only place I could not use it was Le Brea Bakery. Used it at carts

My trip this past April I used my gift cards at the Blue Bayou, Bengal B B Q, bought a pretzel, churros, fish and chips, shopped at Marcelines, Coke Corner,Blue Ribbon Bakery, used it for merchandise, and also at the market place that is next to the Jungle Cruise. So that gives you also a pretty good idea as to where it can be used. Like others have said, if there is a pos system, you are good to go. There are certain shops that are not owned by Disney, that are at the park that do not accept them, such as the Crystal Shop, and a few others. You can find out more about it from Disney's gift card FAQ's.
There are very few locations where it is accepted in DTD. World of Disney, Marcelines, and at least one other shop does accept them.

If you are staying on property you can get them at the front desk. We did that one year when we checked in. Now we just buy them at the Disney Store or Disneystore.com. They can be reloaded too if you have some already.

I forgot to add that you can use if for a Dole whip or float too. Speaking of which I finally did try the ever so famous Dole Whip. Oh my God! My taste buds were overwhelmed and not in a good way either. I took one taste, and thought too sweet, man I am going become diabetic, then after a few more licks came to the conclusion that I cannot stand this for certain, so I wonder if I can exchange it for a bottle of water, which at that point was desperately needed, fortunately it was not a problem doing that. There was man that had just ordered it, and said that he likes it, and I thought, I don't care, I cant stand it. Being at the land, I decided to keep that to myself, and just remark that it is too sweet for me. I did feel a little bad for it being deposited into the sink by the CM. Oh well.....
